The U.S. government issued notes of regret for the loss of human lives, but never apologized or acknowledged wrongdoing. George H. W. Bush, the vice president of the United States at the time commented on the incident during a presidential campaign function (2 Aug 1988): "I will never apologize for the United States — I don't care what the facts are... I'm not an apologize-for-America kind of guy." Bush used the phrase frequently during the 1988 campaign and promised to "never apologize for the United States" months prior to the July 1988 shoot-down and as early as January 1988.

...

Despite the mistakes made in the downing of the plane, the men of the Vincennes were awarded Combat Action Ribbons for completion of their tours in a combat zone. The air-warfare coordinator on duty received the Navy Commendation Medal, but The Washington Post reported in 1990 that the awards were for his entire tour from 1984 to 1988 and for his actions relating to the surface engagement with Iranian gunboats. In 1990, Rogers was awarded the Legion of Merit "for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service as commanding officer ... from April 1987 to May 1989." The award was given for his service as the commanding officer of the Vincennes from April 1987 to May 1989. The citation made no mention of the downing of Iran Air 655.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

The United States shot down an Iranian airliner. This is accepted as fact, and no one is denying it. With the plane in Ukraine, the only people that could have shot down the plane was either the Russians or the Russian backed rebels. The ONLY people flying planes in the area was the Ukrainian military, and the Ukrainian military wouldn't be shooting down planes when they are the only ones flying them.

I understand you are Russian, and you are determined to defend the honor of your country, but you pick the dumbest points to argue about and try to defend nonsense. The Russian military is doing rather well in Syria, and it's surprising the military analysts in the Western world. Perhaps you should bring that up instead of the silly debating points you try to argue.

One day? Already happened.

Already happened multiple times throughout Europe, too.

I know, I know. United States is the big bad evil of the world and there are no such thing as Muslim terrorists.

Oddly enough, every now and then we admit when we do something wrong. The people even fight with our own government as to whether or not we do something wrong. And yet, I hear not so many on the Muslim side denouncing the Muslim terrorists.

Why is that?

Tribes stick together.

Yep, Russia has put much less Americans to the space than the USA. But do you know that all the American astronauts still use Russian rockets to get to the outer space sine the end of the US shuttle programs? The USA still have their citizens on the orbit but.. they are being send there by Russia. You had only 6 shuttles and 2 of them (33%) had blown up and killed the whole crews. Nothing to be proud about.

Even a car-driven rocket launcher here can be used to send a satellite to the space:

That's not a staged video or a Hollywood movie. The Topol-M missile track launches a commercial satellite to the orbit. That's a first world technology.

Does it take off like the US human-killing space shuttle program or it was just a regular terrorist attack on the ground? I mean has the rocket was ever launched? No? Then go to compare that terrorist attack with 9/11 in NYC.

God man you watch too much CNN!
The war in Ukraine is between Ukrainian rebells and government forces. It's funny to hear Ukrainian politics saying there are russian army fighting against them )) Ukraning army doesn't even have money to buy camouflage or to give food to their soldiers. There are two great armies in the world - Russian and American. No chances Ukrainian army to be close to those big ones. And no chance it could resist more than 2 days against one of them.

Ukraine already shot down civilian plane back in 2001. They also had their jets in the air in that area at that day. So your fact breaks in peaces.

There wasn't any evidence of rebels using BUK missile tank before. And the theory about russians had given BUK to rebels and taken it back right after the plane was hit pretty weird.

man... crimia is peninsula in black sea. The war goes in donbas, Ukraine. The distance between crimia border to dombas is 400 km by car. What the hell are you talking about? there is no war in crimea and no anything about downed plane. People voted for joining russia. And every one knew they would. Ukraine did everything to make people of crimia to hate it.
just an example: all crimea speaks russian. Ukraine made a law all the movies should be translated to ukranian only. Crimean local government made a law they could translate movies back to russian. So they've got Russian movies at the movies translated from russian to ukranian and over ukraning voice overlaid russian translation again (not original sound). Outstanding loans are now almost 40 million people, or more than half of the economically active population. According to the analysis OKB quarter of borrowers serve simultaneously two loans, and 18% - three or more. And the more a man of loans, the less he pays them. For example, among those on whom the same time hanging three credits or more, about one-third do not pay them on time. During the year the number of people experiencing serious problems with repayment of loans has increased by nearly 1.5 million to April amounted to 5.2 million people.

You had 6 shuttles, and 33% (thirty three fuckin' percents!) of them have exploded and killed their whole crews (in contrast to Russian rockets, your ones have no catapulting systems to save the crew in a critical situation). Personally I do understand why the US astronauts prefer to use Russian technologies over the American ones. They just want to get home alive and that's an absolutely normal thing. A 3rd-world technology has never been safe. Yes, you have Twitter, Google and Facebook, but you can't send a human into the outer space in 21st century (Wernher von Braun and his Nazi crew are dead by now).

2. no one did steal it. People of crimia voted for going apart and joining russia. if russia refused to get them we would get one more war zone. Crimean people ran away from ukraine not because they wanted to be in russia so much but because they didn't want to live with new Ukraine government. Meth a bad education make you an idiot. We have lost 4 cosmonauts for all the time (how many were killed by American shuttles?) All 4 cosmonauts died in the landing capsules (parachute failure and depressurization) many-many years ago (1967 and 1971). Both cases have no relation to the Russian rocket technologies. Educate yourself, moron.

You can try to continue arguing with me over your 3rd-world space technologies, but it will be just a useless talk. We both know which exactly technology is being used to get American astronauts into the outer space in 21st century. Period.
