Would your Opinion of War Change if it Were Happening Within 50 Miles of YOur Home?
I have been watching the news, listening to all the reports and so on. For the most part I'm all for getting rid of Saddam Hussein.
However, I wonder if my opinion would change if I didn't feel so safe here in my home. The war doesn't feel so real when it's not in your backyard. I was wondering how you all fell about this:question |
I would feel different if it was right next door, but it would depend who was next door doing it, the US or Iraq. If the US was being attacked, I might feel this was justified. If Iraq was lobbing missles towards me after we attacked them, I would be pissed.

I would have been drafted if that was the case. But I won't say whether or not it would change my opinion. :)
Depends on who's side I was. |
I live very close to the Norfolk Naval Station & Air Base - so it *is* like it's right in my backyard. That would be a major target for terrorists. Lockheed Martin makes defense components on the base and they sent home a "disaster preparation packet" with all of the employees a few weeks ago.
Like they knew something we didn't. We've also been told to keep a tv or radio on *all* the time so that if the order is given to get the hell out of dodge, we'll hear it. It's worrisome and nerve-wracking as all hell. |
I think we might be listening to our neighbors a bit closer if there wasn't an ocean seperating us.
Virginia ROCKS! |
What, like if New Jersey was run by an oppressive madman? I'd probably support the war MORE.

I'd be happy. I'd get to shoot Iraqis myself.
