I just had to do some fact checking when CNN mentioned that American's Flagship was/is the USS Constellation (CVA-64).

Our flagship carrier is 41.5 years old Kitty Hawk Class ship. Does that say good or bad about our Naval technology?

btw... Due to be commission in May - the USS Ronald Reagan......and recently begun and due to be ready to float in 2009... the final Nimitz class carrier... the George H W Bush... oh the irony.

Why shoudn't they. He served multiple roles in government for most of his adult life up to and including serving as President as well as being a combat pilot during the Second World War and was shot down twice.

Heck... if they can name one after Reagan.. why not Bush.
