For the Troops...
 

Please do not think ill of me. I know this is a global board, but I'm posting this for anyone who might be interested in this project.

Naughtyfables.com is mindful of the troops who fight so far away from home. Being mindful of them also entails being mindful of the family members and loved-ones that wait at home, unknowing and frightened.

With the thought of so many families needing reassurance, hope, and some of the basic necessities, we propose the following:

For every story you order, we will give 50% (no b.s., HALF the cost) into a fund. The proceeds from that fund will go to buying items for family members such as food, laundry care, baby items, clothing, or helping them with utilities and whatnot. That fund is strictly for the families.

We will also take donations for the troops themselves, with 100% of the funds going to purchase prepaid phone cards, toiletries, disposable cameras, etc. We will ship these things in care packages overseas.

This will end April 15, 2003, with the packages from this being sent the next week.

Don't troops already get paid more when they are at war?

Come on, there must be more of you out there just waiting to turn this war into a cash cow MORE of these offers. As long as you tell me it's for the troops that we all pray for and love I will buy anything you throw at me.

Hazarous duty pay doesn't give all that much.

I'm sorry that you are taking this as something for me to make money. Would you feel better if I gave ALL I earned in this period to the funds? Would YOU do that?

Yeah ... but they don't get much to begin with. A lot of the married guys with kids, even up into the middle enlisted ranks, are actually at poverty level.

That's very true, and those are the ones I'm looking to help out in this. I'm quite sorry that people are looking on it as just a means to turn the war into a "cash cow". Sorry, but being a veteran myself, married to a veteran, that thought was NOT on my mind when I decided to do this.
