wayyyy off topic (electronics question)

I know someone here has to know the answer.

My new clarion lcd (for mah car) has a safety feature so you can only watch the tv when the parking brake is applied.

Ive been trying to disable it and can't really figure out how the fuck to do it. I tried grounding the wire that came off the deck and it didn't work. also tried hooking a 12v power wire to it, still didn't do shit.

Do I need a relay or what?

Here are pictures from the installation manual.

Go to http://www.edmunds.com and go to "Car Discussions"

They've got tons of messages over there about this. If you can't find your specific make and model already listed in a thread, post a message :)

Add a switch between the parking brake and the connection between three wires. The switch should be wired to ground (chassis). When the parking brake is on, you're actually grounding the connection to the parking lamp, which turns it on. Adding the aforementioned switch does the same thing.
