Roskomnadzor, the Kremlin?s media watchdog, has blocked access to 11 porn websites, including the Russian-language section of the popular website PornHub.
The agency is acting on a decision by a court in Krasnodar, which ruled earlier this year in July that these 11 websites are illegal. It remains unclear why the court targeted these specific sites, and not the millions of other porn repositories available online.
An official press release on Roskomnadzor's website states that the illegal production, distribution, and public demonstration of pornography are considered criminal acts in Russia.
