The next time Bush goes on TV will be to tell us our military has begun attacking, as per the white house address this morning.

Not saying they will attack tonight but the sandstorm will not stop them. In that country at this time of year there will always be something to worry about.

European Lee 03-19-2003 06:02 PM

If Bush has any sense he will wait a few days before sending the troops in.

He should get the USAF to do a few fly-bys and put the fear of god into those ragheads.

Then, if Iraq fires on the planes Bush should retalliate as he wouldnt have started the war :thumbsup

Damn i should be a military leader, theres nothing like pushing your enemies to make the first move and get you outta shit hehe :thumbsup

Regards,

Lee

Yea buddy, that's it. I'll send that over the wire to the Prez so they can let the troops know. Thank God you are so intelligent, we only had a few minutes left.

Yea they just got back to me. Seems Bush already had the Fuck Em Up button pushed early. Like a kid on Christmas morning he just couldn't wait.

XxXotic 03-19-2003 06:10 PM

bush has already signed off, the war is out of his hands now and in the general's hands.

Whitehouse staff has already said bush will not been seen for the remainder of the evening

Just heard it on CBC. They were talking about things that could POSSIBLY hinder or go wrong the starting of the invasion.
The weather IS a big factor. In the sand storms machinery dosen't work and guns don't fire. As well it produces a heavy layer over the land much like heavy thick smog. So satalite imagery is not what it should be.
If ya can't see the target how can precision bombs be delivered properly.

not exactly, he still has to notify Congress of his intent to deploy troops, and has to get their approval.

Of course, it is all just going thru the motions, but a President can't just declare war on a country, he has to get approval of Congress, just like when Japan attacked the White House back in the War of 1812

Gemini 03-19-2003 06:19 PM

JRADs (bombs) etc *will* work in a sandstorm, buttttt, the helicoptor gunships can't fly... so NO ground to air support. Not to mention that they could drive right by a regiment of Iraqi's and not see them, not could the Iraqi's hear our equipment. :1orglaugh

We need a sandstorm report for Southern Iraq. :Graucho

This deadline has been approaching for days. You don't think he's already done this?

It was reported here by someone stationed there that the commander is ready to move at any time regardless of the weather, sandstorm, blah blah blah. I'm not being an ass but your news is a little late.

Gemini 03-19-2003 06:24 PM

The October Congressional vote already gave him the right to declare war, but they added a hitch that he has to formally notify them that the diplomacy failed... He did that this afternoon already. If it wasn't blowing sand, they'd be fighting already. Only the jets can fight in the weather they have.

nocostporn 03-19-2003 06:31 PM

Only a dumbass would wait...They know we're coming, they know we're going to fuck them up,if we wait that just give sthem a chance to strike before us and at least do some damage...It's too late to start pussy footin around,do this shit NOW!

must be a time delay on CNN then, because they just said he still has to do this step (on the west coast feed anyway) Of course, this is the Connie Chung show, so not sure if it is taped, as it does not say LIVE on the screen, althought they are talking like the deadline just passed

Gemini 03-19-2003 06:44 PM

he still has to do this...

6pm (EST) news said Bush had just notified Congress of the failure to complete the disarmament via diplomacy, approx. 6:25 actually. (Brokaw I think it was said it on a feed to our local news.) We didn't watch the National news afterwards tho.

Didn't he get a law passed in Congress that gives him unilateral power of going to war?

If not, he should move fast to get this and while at it to ban all US porn sites ( please. do not ban the surfers...).

directfiesta 03-19-2003 06:48 PM
