can you answer my question about the draft

i'm just curious about the rules/laws of the draft. not sure if what i've been told are urban legends or if there is truth to them. for example, only son's can't be drafted, if you have heart problems/eye problems that you are less likely to be drafted. if your in college you cant be drafted are just a few to name. just wondering if anyone knew anymore on the subject.

1st rule... They haven't drafted anyone since '73 and have no plans to in the near future... So why does it matter?

well i dunno who would have thought that we would be attacking a country for basically no reason, but here we are just 6 hours away. and i know that they havent drafted people since what vietnam but with the bush family in office there is no telling what else he will decide is "in the good of the country"

I wouldnt be so sure about that. If there were war on two fronts I think it could be a strong possibility.

The movie, Private Ryan, was based on a true story.

They no longer draft the only son.

The draft was implemented so what happened to European's in the first two world wars wouldn't happen to us.

WWI and WWII absolutely decimated the gene pool in Europe and is why we are selective in who joins our military.

No this isn't a joke, there was a lot of truth in Saving Private Ryan in how the US wages war. We don't want an entire family line exterminated.

If they bring back the draft, you can expect a whole new set of rules on who goes and who doesn't to come along with it.

There were all kinds of medical conditions that could keep you out of the draft - many can be treated now, so would more than likely not be cause to keep you out of the draft. Being in college also kept you out, but again, IF they bring it back, it all depends on how the dominos fall.
