How the media we'll work during the war
What you'll about to see is what the govmt wants you to see, not what will happen. Peter Arnett, the well known CNN reporter after the end of the Wolf war said what he was reporting is what he thought it was the reality of the war, when the war ended he saw a different reality, it was too late then.
Peter Arnett is again in Iraq and he'll cover the war. He carries more experience than ever and hopefully him and the foreign reporters that will remain in Iraq will report what the controlled media do not want you to see. On Saturday in New York we're going to see one of the largest antiwar protesting activities with an estimated amount of people close to 2mil. CNN is reporting it wont be more than 400k. CNN videos will go from Iraq to Atlanta, they'll be censored and filtered and with a delay will be broadcasted. Live coverage exists even on the most silly events. When it comes to a war, live coverage dissapears. Welcome again to the democracy of the controlled mass media. |
is that peter guy the guy they made that HBO movie about with michael keaten?

you crazy rich bastard you.
|
I don't think I understood one thing you typed. Are you drunk tonight? Serious question.
|
so true, so fucking true.
CNN's brainwashing is worse than Hitler's NSDAP propaganda in the 1930's. |
actually - I'm not worried at all. because the 'real war coverage' will appear on ogrish soon enough.
|
Yeah the American media is whitewashed and cleaned up to serve the current administration. However most media throughout the world is the same. One thing you can be thankful for if you're a news junkie like me is the internet. The internet allows individuals to break from mainstream media and provide a look into all the things you might never know or see if you only watched tv. I can't say for sure that any one source provides "the truth" but I can say I gather information from all of them and can come to a pretty reasonable idea of what is actually happening around the world.

There's a reason that I'm no longer a journalism major. My hypocrisy goes only so far.
I get my news from my friends and family on the ships in the Med. and on the ground in Turkey and Kuwait. There's precious little of that. For a reason. *keeps hoping that I get no strange phone calls in the middle of the night* |

If you don't get your information from CNN, where do you get it from? |
xerox, that's him
galleryseek :-P LiveDose i'm not drunk...yet :glugglug heading to gym to become sexy twink like equinox :) |
what makes me phyically sick is the fucking hard-on the news stations have for the war.. they've been in production for weeks developing fancy graphics to relegate the bloody slaughter into a McHappymeal computer game simulation.
I'm refusing to watch several stations that are advertising how they are "your station for war". Fuck them and fuck their ratings. gimme facts not sensationalist vomit. |
CNN and FOX are not the only media on the planet you know. MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.com) is one of the media i'm gonna read. MSNBC, during the afghanistan operation had interviews the rest media wouldn't even mention. I have faith on BBC as well (we'll see though) and to the majority of smaller media that have sent their journalists in Iraq.
Saddam will attempt as well to give a fake picture by putting US soldier uniforms to dead iraqish bodies. |
Arnett is now in Iraq as a correspondent for National Geographic and for NBC News.

Mainstream media has an agenda right now, but the Internet is a source for alternative media on both sides.
Whether you are a crazy right winger or a crazy left winger, you can find news sources you like better on the web. :) |
I just hope it's a good show and Saddam sprays the invading forces with anthrax or mustard gas.
I want to see the imperialists choke to death on the battlefield. |
yea, wish harm on your countries two biggest allies you fucker

I hope Saddam gives them everything he's got and pulls out every dirty trick in the book. If there's going to be a war and I'm getting the popcorn out I want it to last for weeks! I demand entertainment value. |
theres been like 16 UN resolutions.
The usa had no UN resolution for Grenada, Panama, Vietnam, or Yugoslavia. Nobody had a problem when Clinton bombed Yugoslavia with no UN mandate to help force a regime change. Interesting story about the french not allowing us use their airspace to retaliate against lybia.. "President Reagan sent American warplanes in April 1986 to bomb Col. Moammar Gadhafi's compound after the Libyan dictator capped numerous bellicose acts worldwide by sending agents to a West Berlin disco frequented by American soldiers. There they set off a bomb that killed two American soldiers and wounded some 200 innocent people, among them 50 more American soldiers. Even in that surgical military strike against a dictator who had been terrorizing the world, certain European sophisticates were against us, most memorably Jacques Chirac, then only the French prime minister. Mr. Chirac denied French airspace to our strike force, causing its pilots to fly 2,400 more miles to attack Col. Gadhafi. Mr. Chirac's motives were the same then as they are today: commerce, moral posturing and procrastination. At the time in this column I described Col. Gadhafi's network of terror as "a new abomination in the annals of war." " |

Why? Because Rush told you to. Now you think the opposite. Why? Because Rush told you to. Sheep. |
Who owns media companies? Incredibly wealthy and powerful individuals, families, and corporations.
Thus, what else would you expect? If webmasters owned all the media companies, do you think you would ever find any articles being published about porn? Nope. |

BTW haven't you heard? THE DEBATE IS OVER! |

Besides, like I've already said... if there's going to be a war and my tax dollars are concerned I want bang for my buck. I don't want a walkover. It's like paying to watch a boxing match only to have a knockout in round one. I want some fucking action. My popcorn is in the microwave and I'd better not be disappointed! |
