Obama unveils major climate change proposal
The Obama administration unveiled a major climate change plan on Sunday aimed at a large reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the nation's coal-burning power plants. On Monday, President Barack Obama started selling it to the public at a White House event.

i think it makes sense for pollution but be prepared for energy producers to pass the cost on to consumers.

I love politics. Long before Obama even told anyone what it was the Republican party was telling us how illegal it was.

Meanwhile ... in China and India zero is being done.
How about passing a bill that imported goods must be manufactured following the same requirements the EPA forces US companies to comply with. It's the same "global" air isn't it? |
my understanding in reading the new regs over the weekend is this is an update to his current deal, but it raises the requirements to 32% reduction up from 30%. apparently that 2% is a big deal.

Can't he just go be a lame duck somewhere and shut the hell up?

The President himself said that his plan would indeed cause "energy costs to skyrocket" a few years back.
The plan he is implementing is fulfilling his promise. :( I was hoping he was actually going to do SOMETHING to help people and show me that maybe I'm wrong about "man made" climate change. But instead, he chose to punish people with even higher energy bills coming their way in an already weak economy. And at the same time didn't do anything to actually "fix" this imaginary "problem". :( I have to ask myself again: Why doesn't the President or Congress actually do something that would help everyone...well, I already know the answer to that: They are greedy fucks who are out to enrich their cronies. BUT...just imagine if President Obama had come out today. Given that entire speech about how global warming is "man made" and it's even more serious than all the wars and terrorism in the Middle East (meanwhile he is bombing the fuck out of the mideast and after the speech he put out a bigger "carbon footprint" by jumping on Air Force One and flying out of there than 17 cars do in a YEAR!) But then...instead of trying to cost everyone in the coal industry their jobs, and instead of figuring out new ways to tax companies in the U.S. and drive them out with this new plan and drive energy costs through the roof for struggling American families....what IF he had instead allocated a huge chunk of money to put solar panels on EVERY home and business in the United States? Instantly millions of new jobs would be created. Solar power would be a reality in the United States within the year. The Green Energy movement would be solidified. The Earth would be saved, the economy rolling, and Pres. Obama could finally be a hero. But nope. That isn't what happened at all. :( Fuck, there is no hope for our country with the way our govt. is fucking us. |

Or as he said at the Press Dinner his "Bucket list" (that was a funny bit). He's finally doing some of the things he campaigned on. I like what he's doing with Cuba and Iran. He was correct when he said it hasn't worked to isolate our enemies. |
Obama is ahead of his time I am afraid...

as far as i read emissions of burning coal are not even regulated in the US? besides that being an outdated source of energy, it would be at least nice if currently available technology to clean emissions would be used - world wide. now that really cannot harm anybody |
