Seven warnings to read before you upgrade to Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system

I've already upgraded and since reverted. It broke vmware's bridged networking the first time. I'll wait. 8.1's solid.

incredibleworkethic 07-29-2015 03:24 AM

Installed without issues here.

Im going to format, as i prefer to do a format at the same time as a new OS installation, might as well. Hope the pop up comes back when I format. Eventually it will, but i might lose my spot in the queue

wehateporn 07-29-2015 05:17 AM

I'm still quite new to 7, it's great, I detest Windows 8 so I'm happy to stick on 7 as long as I'm allowed

MrBottomTooth 07-29-2015 05:20 AM

Anyone with Nvidia and multiple monitors might want to wait.

Why? I run 3 monitors with an nvidia card and haven't had any problems.

Haven't done it yet but most likely not. Considering thats only an option when you boot to the CD, and not when you put the cd in the drive of a PC that is already turned on and windows loaded.

Lots of people were having issues with multi monitors or SLI setups.

Windows 10 forces its users to automatically update their device drivers which is causing conflict for many gamers. Specifically people using Nvidia GPU's, SLI or multi-monitor setups. Since Windows 10 updates these device drivers on its own, it is clashing with drivers that users may have installed themselves or have set to auto-update through the Nvidia Geforce Experience.

This. Until a version is out, tested, and stable enough to become the "norm", then I'll think about upgrading when Microsoft forces me. I ran XP all the way until Bill Gates himself was calling my house telling me to upgrade. Windows 7 is stable and will work for me until I'm forced to change. I'll bet dollars to donuts that I'll never have to install Windows 10. Windows 11 will come out and be the stable version, then I'll think about upgrading. :thumbsup

pornguy 07-29-2015 07:26 AM

Yeah warning number 1. I cant get that fucking upgrade icon off my pc.

pornmasta 07-29-2015 07:52 AM

win 10 is probably da shit

anexsia 07-29-2015 08:01 AM

I upgraded last night (did a clean install afterwards) using the ISO method and Windows 10 Pro is fucking amazing, it blows every other version of Windows out of the water and it's insanely fast on my SSD drive.

Microsoft really did an excellent job with Windows 10, I upgraded my family to Windows 10 today and they also love it.

Interesting. I never had any trouble. I don't run SLI though. Funny, after I made my last post, I got an update for the nvidia experience software as well as a driver update. Supposedly that fixes the issues people have been having. Now I hope that update won't break my shit next time I reboot. :1orglaugh

Rochard 07-29-2015 09:33 AM

I read an article this morning that Win10 was great, and easy to install. I am in no hurry to upgrade; Why fix something that isn't broken.

Win8 got a bad name because it too forward thinking. The folks at Microsoft could see that "apps" would replace programs, and went in that direction. The vast majority of people do not need a desk top - they need a handful of apps to check their email and facebook and play a few games and read books.

Win8 on a laptop sucked. Win8 on a Microsoft Surface was great.

Windows 10 really blows every other version of Windows out of the water, it's that damn good - just make sure you at least perform the upgrade within a year (the free upgrade licenses are tied to your hardware via a unique ID) so you get your free copy and then you could always move back to Windows 8 if you want.

I updated a few pc's and notebooks today and I suggest everyone with an nvidia geforce card to install these right after win 10 is installed, as version is newer than win ones and in one pc the win ones did not even installed while the nvidia download worked perfectly:

Windows 10 64-bit Desktop GeForce GPUs:
http://international.download.nvidia...ational.hf.exe

Windows 10 64-bit Notebook GeForce GPUs:
http://international.download.nvidia...ational.hf.exe

Also rather than wait auto update or run strange console commands just download and run the tool here it simply works to update to win 10:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

Then, if have nvidia install drivers above. Some antiviruses like kaspersky.. .may disappear if you don't update to latest version of such before of win 10 update, but yuou can install after the update anyway.

I liked XP it was the best, Windows 10 has so many options it doesn't even make any sense

designcoder 10-04-2015 04:19 AM

still working using win 7 and its great!

just a punk 10-04-2015 04:30 AM

Win7 is ok with me. Actually I would be happy with XP64, but unfortunately it's not supported anymore. When m$ stops supporting win7, I'll move to Linux completely.

SmutHammer 10-04-2015 06:26 AM

I upgraded my laptop a while ago and I really like it. But still have not changed my main Pc just out of fear something might go wrong. I'll be replacing that computer soon with an alien ware that comes with windows 10.

CDSmith 10-04-2015 07:47 AM

I'm having a custom build desktop being put together for me right now and just told the techies to just go ahead and put Win 10 on it for me.

So I guess I cheated. :D No upgrading for me.

Win 7 is better

Mr Pheer 10-04-2015 12:15 PM

I run four monitors on Nvidia GTx-980Ti with no issues on Windows 10

michael.kickass 10-05-2015 06:27 AM

I heard it won't let you install lots of software.

bronco67 10-05-2015 06:37 AM

I upgraded my Surface tablet...and it's a big improvement over Win8.

I don't think I'll take the plunge yet on my main workstation (Win7) because I'm in the middle of some big jobs.

I heard that too. I'm thinking it must identify illegal software, because I'm just now loading all my old programs onto my new Win 10 machine and so far everything works fine. And some of my programs are OLD. But they aren't stolen. :D

Rochard 10-06-2015 09:18 PM

Now most of my computers are running on Win10 and... No issues with the install, and no issues since then.

shake 10-06-2015 09:21 PM

Didn't support the video card on the one machine I tried it on, so it's unusable (black screen after boot logo). I backed everything up first of course, so I'll have to do a fresh install of Win 8 and either get a new video card or wait until drivers are updated.

Video drivers are highly overrated anyway.
