The way that story is reported is kind of designed to make you hate the hell out of Iran.

Ironically, the people of Iran are hearing the same thing from our news organizations here in the U.S. in reverse.

Every time I hear about this deal...it's always that Congress will NOT agree to it (just like the Iranian leader said that "IF" the deal is passed in Iran's govt.). And the President and Congressional leaders keep saying publicly how much they want to "control" and "Keep Iran in check"

Is that gonna piss them off? Hell yes.

Just imagine if another country was saying that about the U.S. while at the same time forcing us to do something against our will?

Actually, the U.S. and Iran were close allies from WW2 forward.

Iran used to be our "muscle" in the middle east. The Shah was in power (with out support) from 1941 up until 1979 when the "revolution" ousted him.

So you could post that same picture up there...but replace it with every President from WW2 up to Reagan. And they would all have administrations that sold weapons to Iran.

People make those memes to try and attack one "side" or another (republican or democrat) without realizing that history shows that there is no difference between them in the long run. :(

The difference though is Iran was classified as a State Sponsor of Terrorism when Reagan did it which made it illegal. Then Reagan tried to deny it happened (remember I don't recall?), when the investigations ensued Reagan skated because the administration refused to release documents on his involvement. 14 Reagan officials were indicted and Bush eventually pardoned them after he became President. You cannot compare what Reagan did to what other Presidents did.

I don't understand the details of the deal, but Congress is 100% anti-Obama, and John Boener is the worst speaker of the house in the history of speakerseseses of the houseseses. To me, anything he says is just pure bullshit. Congress has always been against Obama, especially on the good things he has done. So to me, Congress has zero credibility.

It was all related. The arms were sold to Iran and the funds were then sent to the Contras. One would not have happened without the other.

The way I look at it we have two options.....

1) Sign the agreement which prevents them from building nuclear weapons.
2) Allow them to build nuclear weapons and eventually go to war with them.

As much as I get a stiffy when the United States flexes it's military might, it's best to avoid war if possible.

Just like with Obamacare, the Republican party is going to scream bloody murder and fight this tooth and nail without offering any other options. Great, let's do it their way. Let's not sign the treaty and allow them to build nuclear weapons. Then we can see how well that works out.

Again, this is very simple - It's the "carrot or the stick". We want them to take the carrot and everyone is happy. The only other option is the stick, which will require billions of dollars and potentially tens of thousands of American lives.

I just finished a book named "How the west armed the Middle East" (or something similar). Do you know who armed the middle east? While the United States played a role, it was Europe who armed the middle east - mostly France and Germany.

I'm not saying the United States is not to blame - we've had forty years of fail with the middle east, starting with Iran - but the United States isn't the only country to blame.

for me, this accord is a shit or get off the pot deal with iran. we all hear how the USA is supposed to lead with diplomacy, not military and this will prove whether or not diplomacy works with iran. we've placated and buddied up with israel enough and saudi arabia isn't any better than iran when it comes to state sponsored terrorism. so really, who gives a shit about either of them any more.

nevertheless, it's important to remember what this deal is about- it's about delaying iran's ability to go nuke by ~9 months. that's it. they currently stand at ~3 months till nukes. this deal is expected to last no more than 20 years tops too. it's not a panacea, it doesn't address any other issues.

The world, specifically these pacifist countries are all stupid if they think those ass clowns Iranians are not going to build nuclear weapons. That is a terrorist supported country. Their very existence in their miserable lives is the destruction of Israel and the US. It's a shame governments are stupid not to realize this one underlining fact. Iran doesn't want peace, they are just stalling for their end game, which is nuclear weapons. And when they do achieve it, they will be a bigger pain in the ass than they are now. Companies like Walmart and Apple are just as evil for doing business with the devil (China). To answer your question, iPhones should be made here in the US. Especially at the ridiculous prices they sell them for. I read it cost about $125-200 for an iPhone to be made. Yet they charge us almost $600-1200. Even if production costs are higher here in the US, they would still make a nice profit having the phone made here stateside, but Apple prefers to screw the american people out of jobs for the greed of greater profits having it made in China. It's a shame I like the iPhone so much, otherwise I wouldn't support a company like Apple who take away jobs from good honest americans.
