Texas police still seek cobra believed to have bitten, killed man - CBS News

So they found this guy dead in a Austin Home Depot parking lot with a bite mark on his hand. He was transporting a deadly Cobra snake along with some other shit. The snake is missing and on the lam..

Yea.. I could understand if it was at some zoo or something like that whom had a poisonous snake like this, but wtf is just a normal dude doing owning a snake like that.

I know one thing, I wouldn't be shopping at that Home Depot until that thing was caught..

i guess he was stupid enough to get bit and just sit there and die. i don't think that snake venom would instantaneously incapacitate an adult size male, seems odd he didn't try and help himself.

I'd assume he must of called 911 for them to already know that he was carrying the snake and that it bit him.

i didn't get that impression from the couple of articles i read.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, crews responded to police welfare check request around 9:30 p.m. to the Lowe's parking lot in the 13000 block of the southbound Interstate 35 service road. Police found Grant Thompson of Temple unresponsive in his vehicle.

Thompson was pulled from the vehicle and appeared to have puncture wounds on the wrist.

That's pretty strange then, as it seems it takes a bit of time for the venom to kill a human. Like an hour or more according to Wikipedia.

Probably about as long as it takes the Coservatives to blame it on the illegals waiting for construction jobs in the Home Depot parking lot

Assumption is what separates crockett science from real science.

I have learned to keep it simple when you are involved.

Sly 07-16-2015 04:58 PM

I was at Home Depot today.

Thankfully there are about 50 in Austin.

"pet cobra"

The fifty+ people who told the guy to choose a different pet are now all saying "I told ya so"

to no one in particular, since, you know, the guy is dead.

I watched a documentary a while back about a guy whose job is to basically deal with all the exotic, strange pets people buy then can't handle like big cats, bears, snakes etc. It was shocking not just how many people had very poisonous and dangerous snakes, but how many people just let them go when they couldn't take care of them. In one case he got called to house because some kids were playing with a big snake that wandered into their garage. The snake turned out to be a puff adder, one of the most dangerous snakes in the world.

It died by being a snake in the road when a car comes along.

When I was 11 or 12 I told my dad I wanted a Cobra when I grew up; his responses was that I could not afford the insurance on one.

It has only gotten worse since 1964/1965
