The cool points are out the window...

... and she's got me all twisted up in the game.

I saw Bringing Down the House two nights ago. I give it :thumbsup :thumbsup It's pretty damn funny. Steve Martin is his normally hilarious self and Queen Latifah puts on a good show as the Ghetto Mama. Yes, it's full of racial stereotypes and no, it won't be winning any Oscars but it's very funny. It has the funniest female-female fight scene I've ever witnessed. You'll love when the one chick starts busting out her Tae-Bo maneuvers.

Gene Levy is absolutely HILARIOUS as the whitebread accountant who, for some unknown reason, has an amusingly solid grasp of hiphop slang. It's funny to see this short white guy chasing Queen Latifah's poonanny.

If you're a fan of Steve Martin, Eugene Levy or Queen Latifah, you definitely want to go see this. If you just like good comedies, this one should still be on your list.

LOL, look at what I found in Queen Latifah's IMDB biography:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Latifah" is Arabic for "delicate and sensitive".

Arrested for assaulting a photographer. [6 February 1996]

Arrested for carrying a loaded pistol & marijuana. [3 February 1996]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone else see the irony?

She almost got a DUI too: "Two misdemeanor drunken driving charges were dropped Tuesday against actress/rapper Queen Latifah after she pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge stemming from her arrest near Universal City last November."

That movie was great! Martin and Levy were fabulous.

I saw the film in an "urban" theatre. It was absolutely mystifying to me that Eugene Levy and Steve Martin were complete unknows, but the whole crowd cheered when Queen Latifa cam on-screen! Very odd experience.

Well, I guess to today's younger urban crowd Steve and Eugene could be new faces. They don't know what they're missing, though. Steve Martin revolutionized comedy in this country, becoming the first standup to pack entire stadiums. The man is a living legend. Eugene Levy may not be quite as big or innovative as Steve Martin, but he is definitely hilarious. There's only a few comedians who are funny enough to make me go see a movie just because they're in it, but Steve Martin and Eugene Levy are definitely two of them.

stevo - kind of a shame. She seems like a nice lady; smart, funny, etc, but she does seem to get into a fair amount of trouble.
