I mean that in a Memorial service for a slain public official, I think it thoughtful to have taken that flag down during the service out of respect. they lowered the State flag and the fucking USA flag. why? out of respect. to not lower the other flag during the procession smacks of beligerent disrespect.

He said "this picture suggests an internal pulley". Until you posted the quote to inform us otherwise, the photos looks like it could be an internal pulley system to me.

I say they pull them down and replace them with a noose.

I'm quite sure the head of the NAACP in SC, the one talking about the flag in that link, would like to claim the flag is permanently attached, it very well may be, but this higher rez photo suggests otherwise.

also, many flag poles have a hinge at the bottom to lower the pole to access the flag.
my personal view is it would have been considerate to either have flown it as the other 2, or not at all during the procession.

people do care way too much about that flag, by making sure it's flying high while that funeral goes by for instance.

i'm not trying to place blame on inanimate objects, it just stood out to me that those who value so highly and covet that flag, aren't more considerate in their flying of it.

They don't fly it half staff because they don't have legal right to do it like the US flag for some reason, flying the confederate flag half staff has to be passed by a supermajority of the General Assembly...

The only reason AaronM cares about any of this is because he's terrified the government will try and take his gun. He's a bitch. That's most likely the reason he called me and threatened that he was coming to Vancouver to see me in person, and I said sure tell me where to meet you, he pretended he never made that call...
