Donald Trump, fact-checked.

Election 2016: Fact-checking Donald Trump's presidential campaign kickoff - CBS News

JesseQuinn 06-18-2015 10:12 PM

he makes Rob Ford look like a paragon of elegance and wisdom

oppoten 06-18-2015 10:24 PM

I think it would be interesting to have an independent presidential candidate where no media propoganda, pro- or anti-, was applied to them.

Just as an experiment, if nothing else. Let him stand or fall on his own words, and let the voters do the research.

dyna mo 06-19-2015 06:53 AM

Lolz, as if Hillary can get facts straight.

Fact Check Hillary Clinton

The Donald just wants to be on TV and Youtube again ...

I hope they ask him about his business bankruptcies in the Republican debates -- that will be some drama for the Donald ...

They could but I don't think it would be relevant.

As much as I hate the guy, he is as entertaining as Palin was, but in a different way. I'm hoping to see him tear down some of the other republicans in the debates. Right or wrong I think he would crush people like Rick Santorum because he's so loud and obnoxious. Then again, Rick Santorum is a decent speaker, so if he was able to stay calm he might do well. Same goes for Ted Cruz.

Chris Christie vs Donald Trump: Now THAT would be really fun to watch. I think Christie would destroy trump in any debate.

The race to the White House for 2016 is going to be amazing. It already is.

Jman 06-19-2015 09:23 AM

Trump the new Prez of Americhina lolol

Robbie 06-19-2015 10:05 AM

I just read that piece.

If you haven't read it you should.

They are nitpicking Trump because they don't like him. (CBS...you know the same network that did the fake piece on Bush a few years ago that ended Dan Rather's career).

Here's an example from that story:
"At one point, Trump warned his audience, "Don't believe the 5.6" percent unemployment rate the government is reporting. "The real number is anywhere from 18 to 19 and maybe even 21 percent," he said.

Not one of those numbers was correct. The current unemployment rate, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is 5.5 percent, not 5.6 percent. "

Seriously? The guy is working without a teleprompter. And he said "5.6" instead of "5.5"

OMG! The horror! What a fucking liar!

Meanwhile, if you were to ask ********** about all the lies that Pres. Obama has told us...he would immediately defend them all. And the President's lies have actually done damage, while Trump misspeaking the unemployment number by a 10th of a percent is the WORST THING EVER!!!

Read that story guys. You'll see how they are nitpicking it. Don't read it as a "republican" or a "democrat". Just read it and be open minded and see if you think that writer approached it looking for anything he could find.

What that writer SHOULD be doing is looking at the people who have actually been running our country and "fact checking" them.
But I guess that doesn't matter. :(

Rochard 06-19-2015 10:06 AM

TRUMP PALIN 2016

With his business exp and her breasts there is nothing this dynamic duo will be unable to accomplish!

(yes i know that's not Palin but does it really matter?)

L-Pink 06-19-2015 10:11 AM

Fact check: ********** is Canadian and can't vote.

Bryan G 06-19-2015 10:17 AM

Trump is a god damn hypocrite. Complains about US jobs going to China. Yet his clothing line is made in China.

I don't know that he's there (in the race) to tear down other republicans. I see his presence more as serving to steal some or all of Hillary's media thunder, which so far he is doing like no other. I'd be surprised if he went the distance though, the more likely is that he'll withdraw long before any debates get truly 'heated'.

Someone will emerge as the lead dog for the GOP but it won't be him. There's simply way too much sideshow feel for him to muster any semblance of a serious campaign. Only my 'dumb Canadian' opinion though.

I agree though, it would be fun to watch him debate basically anyone in the race. It would be even more fun to see him and Hillary but it'll likely never happen. I say 'likely' because I've long ago come to realize that nothing is impossible, especially in US politics.

Robbie 06-19-2015 10:19 AM

The "fact" is, Trump was pretty "outrageous" for a politician in this day and age.

But the things he said were very populist.

But if you want to attack Trump, just do it. He's an easy target. No need to write a piece that calls itself a "Fact Check"...when Trump wasn't presenting any "facts". He was just making a populist speech.

Most of the things he was saying in his speech had to do with leadership and skills in working with leaders around the world.

The CBS hit piece didn't bother to talk about any of that. They just tried to tear him down.

Tearing him down should be easy enough because of his big personality. No need for this kind of stupidity on CBS's part.

Heh-heh...if you watched his speech...he already called out a couple of his Republican competitors and basically called them stupid! lol

Trump's campaign style seems more like the old days of campaigning...before politicians had a team of consultants to craft their every word.

It was kind of like a breath of fresh air to hear a guy shoot from the hip and say EXACTLY what he means instead of parroting a bunch of bullshit written for him that was put together from focus group data.

Big difference between mouthing off in a speech and having a face-to-face debate where you risk getting toasted alive. Like was said in the movie Bloodsport; "Brick no hit back." :winkwink:

Ex-zactly. All that and a good touch of sideshow. :D Which is why I can't understand why Prince tosses the hate word his way. Fact is the long road leading up to the election just got interesting, and fun.

Yeah, it's gonna be "must see" T.V. if he is in the debates.
Will he be so brash? (I think so)...or will he pussy out when he's face to face with the other Republicans?

Yep, and meanwhile ********** (the guy who supposedly can "see the serious shit") falls over himself praising our govt., that is...as long as a Democrat is President.

Funny how that works. Republicans = EVIL, Democrats = GOOD

And the reality is...the two party system is just like pro wrestling.
The Democrats are the good guys and the Republicans are the bad guys.
And they get in the ring together and put on a show of "fighting". And after the cameras are off...they all go to the bar together and congratulate each other on putting on a good show for the fans.

Interestingly enough...in pro wrestling, the people who "believe" what is going on in the ring are called an old carny name.
That name? A "Mark"
Ironic isn't it? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I like to think that this is my point of view too. Of course, all political systems are messed up, The Canadian political system too. I just somehow find the American system easier to see. Of course, I watch alot of Daily Show, Nightly Show, This week Tonight, and some Rachel Maddow, so maybe that's where I get it from.

Robbie, when did I ever say, as you said in Quotes, "see the serious shit"? Why are you quoting me on something I did not say?

Next, when did I ever praise your government? I said Obama did some good things, Clinton did some good things, and I also even said that Reagan did some good things. You've got a big country with lots of things and people to manage and for the most part your Government does a good job, but like all governments, they have their problems too. Is this not a fair statement to make?

Again man, don't talk for me. You've got me all wrong.

When did I ever say that? There are plenty of good and bad on all sides. I will meet you half way though and say that I think that it looks like there are many more bad republicans than bad democrats.
