We should be readying ourselves for a bodycount many times higher than the first gulf war. It may happen very smoothly, but there is the very real possibility of losing several thousand troops even without chemical warfare.

Have we so soon forgotten the Gulf war? Remember those cruise missiles that could be fired from a ship in the Persian Gulf and pinpoint-hit a garage door in Bagdad? What, you think the US doesn't have much more advanced and accurate weapons now?
I'm pretty sure they do.
Soldiers coming along a street, get shot at by republican guards from a building. They get on the horn and a few minutes later the building is levelled from 500 miles away. Yeah, it'll be a nightmare, for the Iraqi army. Hopefully they'll have the sense to surrender in droves. Hopefully they choose to keep the death toll down. It's really up to them.
