Birth Certificate completely wrong??? WHO HIRES THESE PEOPLE?????

My father can not get his health insurance, or drivers license here in NJ until he had a birth certificate.

We expedited shipping and it cost $51.00 to get it. We get it, and it's WRONG!

1. His name spelled wrong
2. His mothers maiden name spelled wrong
3. His fathers birth place (fucking Guam???)

So when he went to get his license with his fucked up birth certificate, even though his NY drivers license has the correct spelling of his name, and his ss card, and NY health card, debit card etc....

They "had" to spell his name wrong on his new license because it was spelled wrong on his birth certificate. What's the point of bringing in ALL these points of ID's at DMV if you're just going to put it in wrong anyway.

Is this not the most stupid thing ever? How do you screw up that many pieces of info on one birth certificate?

Can't call the place either, never ever get through.

Government is good. Government is there to help us. I'm sure they just had an off day. They'll try better next time. We need to be patient and put our faith in them.

What is the idea with the birth certificate anyways? Government doesn't know whether you have been born or not? :)

We don't even have such things. We have social security number that identifies all necessary details. All that is left is to ensure that the right person applies for passport, etc.

You can also go working for government. No need to be patient, just get a job and do it well.

Here in NJ you have to have 6 points of ID in order to get a license.

A New Jersey photo ID counts as 4 points, a NY photo ID counts for ONE point. So he HAD to have a birth certificate which counts for 4 points as well and then his other things like ss card etc.

But yah, one government employee fucked up, so then the second one, even though she KNEW it was a fuck up, decided to go ahead and continue with the fuck up. I can't argue cause at least now he has the license, but this birth certificate thing makes me mad.

A lot of things in the US you really need your birth certificate.

somewhat similar (but completely different) story from here in Canada. One of my best friends growing up, his last name was Bourque. when we were about 15 his cousins moved to town and their last name was "Burke". I asked him why they were different if they were his cousins, (names seemed to similar to be a completely different name). Turns our when his dad joined the military (almost 60 years ago now and while living in Nova Scotia), they spelled his name wrong on his military ID. after trying to get it corrected for years, it turned out to be easier for him to legally change his name to Bourque, which he did.

Maybe your father is NOT your father ;)

When I was a kid and got my 1st DL they put someone elses name on mine.
Being a kid I just saw the photo and was happy I finally got a DL. Showed it to my parent and they brought me back to get a new one.

Not only did they not take the wrong one back from me they just issues me a new one with the correct name (new one also used a dif DL #). So for a couple years I had 2 DL's ...
A real one and a legal fake one lol
Worked out great when I got my first speeding ticket.

Sounds like you are a few decades late in noticing the errors.

That's what I'm sayin! It would end up changing everything on paper if it wasn't corrected I think.

Now when he applies for health insurance using this license it will be wrong name health insurance too. If he applies for a bank, wrong name. Before you know it everything will be a different spelling than it actually is. Oy vey. Government gives me a headache. We pay way too much in taxes for it to go to incompetent workers!

Indeed...I thought my father WAS my father for 42 years until one day my mother told me the truth.

Don't assume you can trust your parents. :2 cents:

Interesting; I would blame the hospital clerk before laying blame on the government. What level of government are you blaming? Local, county, state or federal?

Not to mention give them a higher salary.

I am SURE his birth certificate he originally had did have the correct info on there. I mean he had to have it originally get his license didn't he? His mother did have a marriage certificate with the CORRECT name on there.

I am blaming whoever typed this one up and then mailed it to us with the incorrect info. Richmond VA vital statistics I suppose.

But we ordered it through an expedited service who says well, it's not OUR fuck up, you need to go to the VA vital statistics.

It's YOUR fault for ordering EXPEDITED service.

If you would have been patient and ordered regular service, they wouldn't have been typing so fast and messed up his birth certificate.
