The Science of Acupuncture
This is an amazing BBC documentary about acupuncture, an ancient Chinese therapy. Acupuncture is a collection of procedures which involves the stimulation of points on the body using a variety of techniques, such as penetrating the skin with needles that are then manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation. It is one of the key components of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and is among the oldest healing practices in the world. As part of the documentary, you will see an young women having an open heart surgery without any anesthetics, just acupuncture, a 2000 years old healing method. You will also see how it helps to treat migraines and many other conditions.Millions people have started believing that acupuncture works better than conventional medicine .This documentary explains about astonishing healing power of acupuncture and its booming market in western world. |
Acupuncture has been debunked more times than can be counted. It's call The Placebo effect genius. But then again, you have no interest in facts or in any information that challenges your insane, rambling, paranoid, "they're all out to get us" bullshit.
Oh... yeah, i know... we all do... every study that has debunked acupuncture is part of a bigger conspiracy. We uhm... get it. But just for fun, i'll leave you with one published, peer reviewed study which was the first result from a simple google search, from all the morons at Harvard Medical School Acupuncture for Treatment of Persistent Arm Pain Due to Repe... : The Clinical Journal of Pain |

I am talking about actual science and you use bizarre logic like "an insurance company says, 'if you want this, you'll have to pay for it' so therefore, it must be real". Wear your helmet even when you're not riding. Please do this for us all. The science is in... acupuncture has been studied to death and their are countless published, peer reviewed studies debunking acupuncture... which has no provable basis in anything real at all. BTW... people ONLY know about acupuncture today because Chairman Mao brought it back as a way to appear to be sending 1000s of "doctors" to rural areas to treat people - requiring no real training/tools/medical equipment/medicines - i.e., it was super cheap, ... and it was necessary after whacking out nearly every educated person in the nation. It wasn't even popular in China at that time until he made it popular. |
I don't know if acupuncture genuinely works or not - but I know a local practitioner caused a longer delay in correcting my sciatic nerve condition by claiming he could fix it with acupuncture.
Unknown to me at the time, I had all the classic symptoms of a pinched sciatic nerve - and the acupunturist claimed he could fix it with a few treatments. Obviously, it just got worse...to the point I finally went to my family doctor, had an MRI done - and had it properly fixed with back surgery. Had the asshat been honest, he would've recognized the signs, admitted there was nothing he could do...and sent me immediately to my doctor. Instead, he milked the treatments and benefit payments and prolonged my chronic pain. Consequently, it'll be a frosty day in hell before I ever consider acupuncture treatment for anything down the road. |

It's also funny when the best argument a person has is always someone else's argument that you "need to watch" :)
It's getting to the point that crazy people are getting too lazy to Invest any sincere effort in being crazy and just refer you to other crazy people that put a little effort into it. |

If billions of people get relief from it and science proves that it's a placebo effect, what's the problem? Can't personally tolerate it?

Is that the definition of the placebo effect? |
i get acupuncture on my taint

I agree that whether its the placebo effect or not, is irrelevant if it causes relief IN MOST CASES... particularly when it concerns pain relief. But personally, i think people carry it too far trying to cure an aggressive cancer by drawing dolphins or eating blueberries or whatever the shit and ignoring the basic science involved, as well as what are proven and effective treatment methods vs pipe dreams and wishful thinking. wehateporns M.O. is to try to convince everyone that anything thats conventional is a massive conspiracy by big pharma and greedy doctors... even though thats so obviously not the case and we continue to live longer and longer due to medical advances. |
