Imagine tons of ice sheets, huge rocks,, falling directly at you.
Very sad.

Come on now...while that may well be TRUE, the only ones who count are the rich fuckers who could afford the thousands of dollars it takes to climb Mt. Everest.

I've never understood the mentality of people whom want to climb Everest. I get the it's a big challenge and it's the highest mt and all, however it's it's like a traffic jam up there. Who in their right mind would pay $30k to stand in line for hours trying to climb a mountain with another 100 people all trying to do it at the same time for their whole 2 mins of sitting on the summit.. Worst yet they spend a month or more getting used to the altitude all for 2mins..

mikesouth 04-25-2015 07:48 PM

30K is way too low and its nothing like "standing in line" at any level

Climbing Gear 8-10K
bottled Oxygen 3K
Permit to Climb 11K
transporting gear to base camp 2k
sherpa, support, guide, food 40 - 80K (plus tip)
round trip flight to Nepal 1-2K

it become a hobby of the rich people who are generally poorly prepared physically for the climb

If you die on the mountain the adds are that your body will never be recovered...there are literally hundreds of bodies on Everest that have not been recovered, climbers generally encounter some of them.

The first successful climb is relatively recent 1953 IIRC

Follow some truly epic photos as the avalanche was headed toward base camp
