I wonder what will happen if the war period will exceed the one (2months) that everyone expects........you know neither Vietnam was supposed to last that long.

Our forces will have control of the country in less than 10 days. There will not be the prolonged bombing campaign that took place during the first Gulf War.

you cant compare this to vietnam in any way shape or form.

If I were you I won't be so sure. We only can bomb, because partisan war on the enemy's territory almost never comes so quickly.
But actually I'm against any wars.

i didn't compare them. Every war is different, but it is at least stupid for someone to be sure for the duration of a war. History proves it. There are war factors we do not consider till we face them.

The Vietnam war would have ended in a single day with the use of Nukes. It would have ended within thirty days with an all out bombing campaign using conventional bombs. It would have ended within three months using ground troops by invading the North. The Politicians put constraints upon our military and micro managed the military when they chose to make it a political war.

less than 10 days? i hope you're right, but i don't see it.

Our country and its assets have been under attack by terrorists for more than a decade and that is why "war" was declared upon "terroist orgs" after the 9/11 attack. The terrorists went a "bridge to far". The US will not "say" much but will react in the same manner that we have been since 9/11 and that is to seek out and destroy the enemy as well as pre-emptively taking out percieved enemies.

The only way I see it happening is if we get lucky and hit Sadaam early from the air attack. However he's going into hiding and you can bet that doesn't mean he's hiding in a building that we are planning on bombing. More like 1000 feet underground. We'll see.

Taking out Saddam is secondary to taking control of the country. During the first gulf war we did not have bunker busters that were capable of taking out his German made underground bunkers, but this time we do have weapons with that capability.
