Please recommend a shopping cart
 

Haven't installed any of these for years, what would you recommend? Simple shop, categories and products, responsive a plus but not the must. They're selling shirts, cups with logos, pencils - that kind of shit.

Need something simple to maintain yet idiot proof as it's for a friend

Wordpress e-commerce theme/plugin?
Open source?
Paid one?

If you want to go cloud based, lemonstand.com is pretty solid.

oscommerce is best and got thousands free plugins to get anything u want done

i remember it (and many others) from 10+ years ago but ended up with cs-cart at the time

Cube Cart, we have it for 9 years... a bit of work to adapt but once done its super :thumbsup

Second that. They have a monthly fee of $20 but if you care about your friend you should set it up for him/her because shopify.com make it their business to head off problems before they occur. The open source shopping carts could end up being an expensive solution for your friend if (s)he makes a balls up or it suddenly stops working due to a server problem.
