Any of you guys drone fans? Just received my DJI Inspire last week. WOW! It's amazing!

Mine is sitting in a box. I'm not going to take it out until Spring.

Been flying my Phantom all winter though.

WOW you have an inspire sitting in a box? Did you at least open it up?

Nope. I've crashed my Phantom more than once. I am in no hurry to crash this one. I will use it for a few Wedding video shoots I have lined up for this summer's season.

I actually built someone I met on a Phantom Facebook group a website and in exchange, he sent me an Inspire. Double Transmitters too. He's a dealer and had a room full of them. Can't wait for spring.

Anyone try the Falcon KZ580 yet?

Gateway69 has an Inspire 1 as well. He's posted about his Phantom here a few times too.

Ive got a blade 350QX with gimbal and HD cam. Very fun to fly!

I'm planning to pick up a DJI when the snow goes away finally.

Congrats on your purchase!!! Please post some pics, video and experience with it? I have an AR Drone but want to buy a new one this spring. I'm considering the DJI as it seems to be the best one.

I was looking to get one, just to get footage with my GoPro around the house and at the Beach...

What kind of battery life do you get out of these more expensive drones?

The DJII Inspire is impressive and tempting me to upgrade. Is it any quieter then the Phantom? I've had a DJI Phantom for a couple years now and trying to shoot with the noise was a huge turnoff, have had a BLAST with it though, they're lots of fun :thumbsup

DJI service and support is pretty much non existent. Their firmware updates have left a lot to be desired. It's because of this that mine is still sitting in the box. I'm not taking any chances until spring.

There are much better options than the Inspire, but they are all basically a step up from the Inspire. Lots of bigger builds out there.

Where do you use it? Photos from the sky? Spying ladies?
Sorry, but I do not see that much fun just flying them around. Maybe for a kids.

I fly mine close to downtown. I've had cops stop and ask about it. I've had the fire department here to fish it out of the tree when the auto landing function decided to be a bit inaccurate. If I had carried one in my trunk, I could probably sell one each time I fly.

I've sold poster sized prints of this shot for $50 and licensed it to a few publications here locally. It's more than paid for my Phantom and it's upgrades. I can't wait to see what the Inspire can do.

What's the best bang for the buck if DJI has bad support?

You guys know that you can build your own drone with a gimble for less than 1/3rd of the price of this commercial crap, right?

There are going to be a lot of new players in the market this year.

Building your own is always any option. But most people don't want to mess with that, much like they don't want to build their own PCs and will spend thousands on an Apple product.

Here's one shot by a pro, with an Inspire and some Phantoms. It just won an award at the NYC Drone Film Fest.

I love to tinker and build things. I just wouldn't know where to start with one of these to build one.

It's a very boring toy. You do get plenty of dirty looks flying it around your house. Apparently a lot of people hiding shit in the back yard

It's great to see if your gutters need cleaning without getting a ladder out and climbing up there.

Not only that but imagine you are buying a new house, you can scan the roof to see if it's in good repair instead of paying a guy $200 to come and do that for you. That is just one of many many instances I see a drone being useful.

There are lots of potential applications for them.

Be careful - here in Montreal you aren't allowed to make money with your drone. You can fly anywhere do anything but if its for commercial purposes, you need license.

No way - I love flying my drone around. In the spring / summer fall I would fly it around at least 3 nights a week just before sunset, all around the park and neighbourhood. Only 1 person complained and called the cops, but the cops didn't even come over. Others would come and watch me fly it, ask questions about how it works, etc. It's a great toy and a fun hobby.

I've researched the laws and you really aren't supposed to be flying anywhere near residential areas.

Regulations in the states are for commercial use and national parks. New US regulations that will include commercial use will come this year.

That's OK then if you actually get that time.

I have a piece of shit Parrot Drone and while it claims 12 minutes per battery I am lucky to get 4 or 5. Just when I begin getting the hang of it, it drops out of the sky.

Shap I would love to hear what you think of it after flying it a bit. I am thinking of picking one up as well. It would be ideal for a Malibu film I am working on. They seem pretty stable. I have a couple friends that have the Inspire and it seems to be the best one on the market for the price right now.

How hard are those drones to fly?

Not hard at all. Most will have GPS lock and altitude control so you dont even need to have your hands on the remote for it to hoover.

I think you'll like the Inspire as you have the option to purchase two transmitters: one for someone to fly and another for someone to operate the camera. This was the biggest factor in my bartering for the Inspire, even with the support and software issues that DJI has become known for.

If I want aerial photos like that I have to make my wife take the video camera up to the roof. :(

When you buy a property, what defines your "airspace" at what altitude can you justifiably shoot the drone down for invasion of privacy... If you have the right to do so?
