I Can't Attend Spock's Funeral William Shatner I Can't Attend Spock's Funeral
Captain Kirk says he won't be there when Mr. Spock beams up for the last time ... despite their decades of friendship.
William Shatner says he's in Florida for a Red Cross Ball -- a commitment he had made prior to Leonard Nimoy's death on Friday morning -- and, regretfully ... will have to miss the funeral service on Sunday. Shatner adds, "I feel really awful. Here I am doing charity work and one of my dearest friends is being buried." He says he will take time on Sunday to celebrate Nimoy's life ... and encouraged fans everywhere to do the same. William Shatner -- I Can't Attend Spock's Funeral |
Write a big check to the charity, go to your friends funeral.

Everyone hated Shatner on Star Trek.
LOL But Shatner is immortal for being in Big Bad Mama and Angie Dickinson's amazing tits. I digress....bad Captain! Where's the funeral? Could he beam there from Florida? |
He might feel that funerals are simply an antiquated and primitive ceremony (much like attending church) and not feel the need to be there. Making the statement about "prior obligations" may just for his public image.
I never go to funerals and I am certainly not having one. |
RIP, i hope you will make more movies in heaven

If he's got time to tweet GoDaddy support than he should beam his ass over there. :2 cents: William Shatner Gives Shout Out to GoDaddy | DomainInvesting.com |
Scheduling conflict.
The green-skinned Orion slave girl promised Shatner anal that day. |
I just read on FB he just flew in for the funeral....

they werent friends and as was pointed out Shatner was almost universally hated by the cast and crew...he becames very jealous of Nimoys characters popularity to the point that he began making sure that any good lines were his and that nobody had more lines than he did.
For him to attend Nimoys funeral would be the ultimate in hypocrisy |
Beam me up...

I used to see Shatner waddle around Valley Village to a coffee shop there. I imagine he was paid to attend the charity event. Most celebrities ARE paid to attend these things. |
I would think the charity would understand to postpone,Shatner didn't make an effort
|
What's weird to me is why Shatner would miss the ceremony?
is he that full of himself? to make this into the twitter event he's doing? |
I dont see what difference it makes.

I was never a Trekkie but i was a huge fan as a kid of Great Mysteries Of The World.
Always thought he could go back to it. Rip pointy eared martian. |

As much as I love Star Trek - it's a show. People are fanatical about the show to the point that when one main character dies - it is assumed that their only friends are the cast.
Did anyone else from the show happened to fly out and attend? Not sure, but harassing Shatner for reasons none of us understand taints a great life. Those that should have been there meaning family were there - Shatner may have felt many things from contractual obligations to the center of attention was going to be on the wrong man instead of family. It's Shatner's choice and the public needs to be aware that sometimes good friends simply can't make it sometimes to good friends funerals - and that doesn't diminish how they felt for each other as acting and personal friends. |
