US is apparently violent country; most seem to be just cheering for the violence. Beating someone like that goes beyond self defence or defending others.

There are options like talking some sense, and then there is self defence and defending others. That gun thing is totally irrelevant; you can't or at least shouldn't act based on "What if he has a gun?". Well, what if he has a nuke, or death ray? That is endless ifs.

And I am not that big hearted; I just don't like self served justice. Even the biggest assholes often think that they are justified to do that and that. There is a line to be drawn, and it has already been done. Move the line if necessary; that is how civilized societies work.
