What's the best battle tank ?
There is no online comparators for them...
:winkwink: |
Why would you need a chart to know the M1A2-Abrams is the best?
Germany and South Korea would probably be in the running also. |
Leopard II A7+

There might be some ultimate tank in terms armament, protection and speed, but then there is one nut on the road that gets into the engine and kaput. Or needs so fucking much service that it is more time at workshop than on battlefield. |
why, are you buying one? ;)
|
I owned a Tiger tank back in the day. Fuck German engineering, that thing was a gas guzzler.

T84 or T90 ?

I do battle with this kinda tank daily... :2 cents: |
For my heart: German Leopard II (A5) simply because it looks really cool. Russian T90 because it looks like a "proper" old-school cool MBT. And of course the PL-01 MBT from Poland because it looks like something Batman would use.
For my head: Best ever (modern/GEN3) MBT is without a doubt the British Challenger 2 (FV4034) simply because the only thing that has ever killed one in battle is another Challenger 2. It's gun and armor and all-round battlefield capabilities place it far and away above the American M1A2 Abrams. In one verified battlefield incident a British Challenger 2 was hit by multiple grenades, 14 (fourteen!) RPG hits and even took a MILAN anti-tank missile in it's stride. The crew remained safe inside, the Tank was recovered, repaired and back in operation 6hrs later. In another MOD reported incident a Challenger 2 near Basra was hit by a total of 70 (seventy! good googly moogly..) RPG and lived to fight another day. The British Challenger 2 is basically a Titan, at this moment in time nothing comes even close. :) |

so what qualities matter for a tank crew ?
(i'm not totally agree with this theory, of course the crew matters, but if your fire rate and if the time that you need to target efficiently an ennemy is lower, it's just easier to win a battle) |

I don't even know how you deal with that latter active protection, besidess with anti-tank mines, shooting the active protection into pieces with smaller calibers, or shooting it with such big gun that counter shooting does nada. And of course shooting with multiple "rounds" like with cluster bomb, but for tanks. With regular cluster bombs you might also destroy the active protection and then followed by some other measure to destroy the tank itself. Well, I guess I know few ways, but battle tested ways is another issue. |
