Clothes you bought 30 years ago, but still buy today?

I got my first pair of Levis 501s when I was about 14... Now, after over 30 years, I still get the same make and brand!

What about you? What NEVER goes out of style / fashion in your minds?

AllAboutCams 02-01-2015 05:49 AM

I always buy nike shoes

carpocratian 02-01-2015 07:51 AM

When I was a child, I wore t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers.
When I was a teenager, I wore the same.
When I was in my 20s, I did the same
When I was in my 30s, I did the same.
Now that I'm in my late 40s, I do the same.

My closet has looked roughly the same my entire life.

Babaganoosh 02-01-2015 07:58 AM

Levi 501s and Life cereal.

incredibleworkethic 02-01-2015 11:44 AM

Damn, wasn't even born yet ;).

SilentKnight 02-01-2015 11:55 AM

Levis 619s.

And I still buy Reebok shoes.

One of the only things I've actually changed is my winter wear. I always wore the shorter bomber style jackets - now I go with a longer parka for more warmth.

onwebcam 02-01-2015 12:09 PM

Parachute pants. I have to buy them used off of ebay but JuicyD likes me in them on our dates.

ottopottomouse 02-01-2015 12:18 PM

Reeboks.

Haha, I missed the "clothes" part. But yeah, I've been eating that same life cereal shit for over 30 years now.

Rochard 02-01-2015 01:01 PM

I've always bought Nikes. For a while I was buying cheaper shoes but the truth is they wear out too quickly - the cheap shit always does.

And I've always bought Levis.

2MuchMark 02-01-2015 01:03 PM

I always buy Levis jeans, for Shoes though I just tend to buy whatever looks nice and fits me comfortably, regardless of the brand.

He is talking about same exact model, not the same brand.

baddog 02-01-2015 01:22 PM

Spunky 02-01-2015 01:27 PM

If you are over 30 and even over 40 and wear chucks... LOL (although no disrespect, different strokes for different folks).

Diomed 02-01-2015 02:05 PM

I buy vintage wool clothing all the time. They just don't make wool like they used to.

Fuck chucks, I rock palladium.

So much more comfy.. You should look into it.

As per old shit, tough call really. I like euro military surplus.

fappingJack 02-02-2015 12:37 AM

a pair of tattered jeans, sneakers and a plain top.

is it me or do you all dress the same here? hehe

I'll rock the jeans myself, but I wont sport the runners--mostly because i'm not seinfeld. Well, unless i'm running.

Finally I agree with you.. I used to wear them all the time as a teen and in my 20's. Then about a year ago, something possessed me to buy a pair. I wore them once and then thought wtf was I thinking and haven't worn them again.

poncabare 02-02-2015 08:32 AM

doc martens

Sunny Day 02-02-2015 08:57 AM

Clothes

Have bought Nike Cortez's for years. Some years they're hard to find, but they're comfortable with my fake hip.

Levis 517 bootcut. Bought a pair the other day at a western wear store. The saleslady asked if I wanted to try them on. I just turned around pulled up my jacket, showed her my ass and said, "see they're the same size."

Mutt 02-02-2015 09:33 AM

Levi 501's 4 Life.

I've worn them almost my entire life, first pair I guess was somewhere around 13-14.

Hoodies the same except they were called 'kangaroo shirts' when I was a kid.

And Adidas Stan Smith sneakers and Chucks - I was wearing Chucks long before they became trendy.

My dad was a suit and tie guy, had to for his job, his casual clothing was embarassing - he would wear old suit pants and an old dress shit and old dress shoes, or worse, my mother would buy him colored golf type polyester slacks - looked so bad. So me and my sisters bugged him for years and years to try wearing jeans, he refused saying they weren't even comfortable, the fabric was too heavy and stiff. He finally relented and tried them when he was about 60, we bought him some faded 501's - and by the end of his life that's all he ever wore.

You guys are so wasteful. I'm still wearing clothes I bought 30 years ago.

AaronM 02-02-2015 11:36 AM

Levis 501s here too. Been wearing them since the 3rd grade.

Since cereal was also mentioned....Over the last 20 years, I doubt I've had 10 bowls of cereal that was something other than Wheaties.

Mens leggings are my go to. I got my first pair in 1981 for Jazzercize.
My Aunt buys me the same pair every year & I still take her Jazzercise class 3x a week.

A must have for every Californian man. I've gone through at least 100 pair of these by now.

Such lovely and manly tight pants and rainbow lenses. I think you might have had too many mushrooms in your omelet this morning.

LAJ 02-02-2015 10:04 PM

Yeah I've been wearing converse since the early 80s. Was pretty much the first in my class to wear them and caught a fair amount of flack for it and then lo and behold, everyone else started doing it lol...
