Idiots can't read:

"In April he pleaded guilty to three charges, including obstruction of a police search, making internet threats and a charge related to his involvement in the sharing of the Stratfor data."

Uhmm.. and yeah, he posted a link to download stolen data relating to national security, knowing what he was doing and knowing it was illegal to do so. He was charged and sentenced for several crimes. Not for "posting a link"

~Ray 01-23-2015 05:15 AM

thanks for clarification

seeandsee 01-23-2015 06:40 AM

Jesus why he did linked to such data

From a tiny Uptown apartment he's organizing a worldwide collective of hackers that brought down HBGary and helped overthrow the government of Tunisia.

A headline from actual news:
"A Writer Linked To Underground Hackers Is Going To Prison For Threatening An FBI Agent"

He eventually pleaded guilty in April to three counts: obstructing the execution of a search warrant, making Internet threats and being an accessory to an unauthorized access of a protected computer. The reduced charges carried a maximum sentence of more than eight years in prison....

...According to plea agreement documents he signed, Brown admitted to sending online messages "threatening to shoot and injure" FBI agents.

...Brown also acknowledged helping someone access the stolen data and obstructing the execution of a search warrant at his home. His mother pleaded guilty to helping Brown hide laptops during a March 2012 raid, and was given six months' probation.

The fact is the BBC article and 95% others are completely wrong. His sentence has nothing at all to do with "linking to a website".

journalism wasn't great before but it is just pure link bait top 20 list garbage now. and never fails to get the idiots reposting that shit across the net like trained monkeys.

when you are ruled by criminals you can't be shocked that the subjects mirror their behavior.

Why would i care? What does that have to do with the senseless inaccuracy and perpetuation of fake news headlines of a bunch of poorly trained monkeys? Since you are describing an international crime(s)... its an issue for the proper authorities in the countries where the crimes were and committed and EU as a whole. The proper question is "why aren't these countries and companies doing anything about it?"

But then again, the legalization of marijuana in the USA is a totally libertarian step that increases freedom - so it's a confusing picture. People say UIGEA was to shore up land based gambling. The skeptic in me says that legalization of marijuana was political step to cut costs and focus on harder drugs. But you guys probably know better....
