Studio Pics From Last Night.
As I posted yesterday,my friend waas tracking a band, and as usual i got to hang out, figured Id post some pics.
<img src=http://www.overmindesign.com/images/studio1.jpg border="1"> What is that? The one of the Hans Studer 24 track 2 inch analog tapes used to record the very famous album 'Appetite For Destruction' by Guns & Roses. A very important piece of rock history, figured since it was next to me, i should take a picture of it. <img src=http://www.overmindesign.com/images/studio2.jpg border="1"> a shot of the band checking levels. <img src=http://www.overmindesign.com/images/studio3.jpg border="1"> running through the song so the drummer could record his track. Note the drummer in the far window. these guys are tracking this so they can work out all their parts, and are going to record with Steve Albini in Chicago within the next month or so. Albini has done some very famous records, including Nirvana's In Utero. Anyway, i didnt stay as long as I thought I would, and I didnt snap many pics. Anyway, the Guns and roses tape machine rocks. :glugglug |

Rock On! |
Need i say, if those are the heads that recorded Appetite, they also recorded, Motley Crue Girls Girls Girls, and Megadeth Rust In Peace.
I couldnt get a shot of the Megadeth plage on the wall. my batteries were dead on the way out. its on the wall of wards on the way out. :glugglug |
heres a quicktime of the same room.
http://rumborecorders.com/qtcrc.html note the mackie consoles, that was just during the photo shoot the Tridents were being repped. the history of rock. this is where Tom Petty recorded as well. :glugglug |
in the quicktime you can see the Studer 24 track on the right.
damn i love these panorama things. http://rumborecorders.com/qtcrc.html :glugglug |
hahaha if you spin all the way around.
you can see the sofa i was smoking my bong on when i took the pictures hahah |

Am I the only one who thinks it's a sewing machine with multiple spools? |
that machine cost more than your house.
:glugglug |
:glugglug
|
wanna see something neat?
note that mac in the background? see that cool ATA flight case? heres the same rig in my house. <img src=http://www.overmindesign.com/images/mac.jpg border="1"> mac g4 running digidesigns pro tools in a ATA approved case, with 2 180 gig drives along the side. all foamed. That mac can be shipped anywhere in the world, with 2 180 gig hard drives and 21 inch monitor all in one road case. :glugglug |
heres a better shot.
my friend rents out his mac rig for 500 bucks a day. can you think of a guy with a pc that does that same? 24 track digital recording fully mobile. <img src=http://www.overmindesign.com/images/studio4.jpg border="1"> heres a better look. proof macs rule in the REAL WORLD> :glugglug |
What is that stuff on the spools??????? I kind of remember seeing that stuff when I was a kid........:)
|
theres nothing on the spools right now. its dormant... its waiting for the next band to afford recording on it. that machine is glorified.
i dont think you guys quite understand the importance of 2 inch analog tape in recording bands. Its like thinkg about movies filmed in 35mm, you just dont do that, well, you dont record albums like Appetite Fotr Destruction on crap recorders. Its machines like this that give guitar the crunch and tone you worship. this machine is why bands pay 30k to record using it. Hans Studer machines rule. :glugglug |
Hey Mr Fletch, how does your schedule look for some design work? Is there a wait list?
|
as everyone knows, i play favorites.
im always juggling things, but i never have problems scheduling things. :glugglug |
Some place I should send an email?
Im not in a major rush, and this should be all that difficult for you. :) |

oh and pumkin's siamese dream. |
when they did siamese dream though they used two 24 track's together and one was exclusively for guitar tracks..24 tracks of guitar....damn
|
note: thats why i said the Studer was 'one' of the ones used in recording Appetite For Destruction.
2 together is deadly. 48 tracks of 2 inch analog. id take that over any pussy any day. Pamela Anderson, Cameron Diaz could beg in the street for dick, id take that machine over pussy. :glugglug |
agreed....the good beatles stuff was done on 2 inch...but thats back when you only got 4 tracks to fit on one...thats is a fucking accomplishment considering the depth of the layering they pulled off with it

'fletch can you put a wow 18 link on your portfolio?' isnt that the first icq you hit me with? Is your attitude tonight dictated by the fact you begged me to put your 'Wow19' sig on my portfolio and i just took it down? certainly seems so. Its funny i just took it down a few days ago and you start mouthing off. this is gonna be fun. another punk bitch, another day. |
