Just remember how many sinking ships you read about in the headlines on their way to Italy full of immigrants? Maybe its well under 1% which means over 99% of those ships make successful passage to Italy and you can work out the numbers yourself.

No because its highly beneficial to society. I come from London (UK) where, in the south of England, it did actually work and would have been highly successful if it wasn't for the fact that there were practically no limits. It still works well in London but less so elsewhere. On the street where I grew up, you have English, Polish, Greeks, Russians, French, Turkish, Indians, Germans, Chinese and others - we're all great neighbors and as a result, my life is definitely enriched but its also good economics.
