Back when the ebonics thing was big, I was shooting a black girl (college coed) who said this after a story came on the TV about ebonics while we were shooting: "This ebonics thing is a bunch of bullshit. Every one of these black kids who they say can't understand standard English watches TV several hours a day, where nothing but standard English is spoken. It's just a bunch of people who like to see whitey squirm making a big fuss over nothing."
