The aging porn industry

Every since that "Birthday's Today" box has shown up above the list of forums on this site, i've been getting depressed.

Everyone is like 35-45 years old now!!

We're all gonna fucking die soon :(

Mutt 12-19-2014 11:57 AM

i'm older than 45 as are a bunch of people I know in the industry :helpme

it is depressing, lots of guys i thought of as kids when I got into this biz are over 40, some over 50 and so on.

time marches on. when i got into this i had 2 parents - i have none now. i'm sure i'm not alone there.

happy to have cheered you up! :1orglaugh

Rochard 12-19-2014 11:58 AM

Forty-six years old and still banged the wife this morning. Older is just smarter.

Don't you miss the days of being carded?

Elli 12-19-2014 12:05 PM

sigh. I found some old Streamray business cards this morning with the Legendary Lars logo on them. It doesn't feel like that long ago... but it is.

SykkBoy 12-19-2014 01:16 PM

I look forward to death nearly as much as the first cup of coffee in the morning.

gnawledge 12-19-2014 03:16 PM

Does anyone not think about death on a daily basis? Does anyone sit around and look at traffic and buildings and think this will go on long after I'm dead? Or do you think I should get some Prozac?

iSpyCams 12-19-2014 03:19 PM

I can't believe how flaky people under 40 can be anyway, much better dealing with adults.

The Porn Nerd 12-19-2014 03:39 PM

There has never been a Generation Gap like the one we will be facing in a few years time. When the Baby Boomers retire and die out, and us Generation X-ers get older and crankier, this world will be left to....yup, the smart phone/iPad/chip-me-now-it's-more-convenient crowd.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em I guess. :D

JesseQuinn 12-19-2014 04:04 PM

since when is 35 'old'? :upsidedow

Jel 12-19-2014 05:07 PM

trust me, you mortals have it easy :2 cents:

Just turned 40. Got my first case of the gout this week. No more xmas cookies, sodas, or beer.

ManPuppy 12-19-2014 05:55 PM

I went through a horrible lull in my late 30's where I was "too old" for the ones I was attracted to, and everyone my age was partnered. Somehow, a few years ago, I crossed some invisible threshold. Now, I'm 46, and gorgeous guys half my age are practically falling over themselves to get with me.

As long as they keep making twinks with daddy issues, I'm in business. I think I'm set for a while.

scubadiver626 12-19-2014 06:05 PM

45 got carded for smokes twice a month ago. Now if I could quit that half pack a week habit.

For real, your 30s and 40s (and beyond) are nothing to be afraid of. Eat healthily, work out every day, enjoy your life, enjoy your body, laugh every day and you'll be criss. Don't be scared of time, it shows and teaches you awesome things and you can still look and feel amazing if you don't resign yourself to being over some arbitrary 'hill'.

Looking back on my 20's I was so insecure, I knew who I wanted to be and what I wanted to accomplish but it all seemed so nebulous and my approach was always so fucking tentative. Now though, fuck that. I'm much more financially (and psychologically) established and energetic and I go for what I want, no holds barred. There's a confidence and enjoyment of life that comes with experience, looking back I wouldn't wish to be 20 again for anything. Yeah it was fun at the time, I just had no idea how much more wicked life could get as the years went by.

30 need not be old, 40 need not be old, hell 50 need not be old. It's all in where your head is at and how you treat your body.

It's really alarming when I think about what's coming in the next generation of "men". When i look at some of the 20-21 year old guys that apply to us for jobs. Zero insight into how life really is, wearing those ridiculous super tight jeans and beiber haircuts. Zero experience, straight out of school (that didn't teach them anything) but demanding a wage higher then a coder with 5 years experience should get.

I don't even interview below 26-27 anymore.

That can be said for anyone 20-21 group at anytime. Unless its the dark ages. Think back in the 80's the flock of seagulls hair-do or the glam rock hair. The 90's with the fades, alt hair or wanting to look like vanilla ice. The mullet. Appreciate your post Konrad cause I've been out of touch in the 2000's. Unless it's a chick with a dick.

Youth is wasted on the young that's for damn sure :)

LAJ 12-20-2014 02:05 PM

I started out in this biz at 31 and it seemed like everyone was in their 20s. I'm 46 now and there are still a ton of people in their 20s.

HellOfaCock 12-20-2014 04:28 PM

Oh man, especially in our business I think time is running fast. And sometimes, looking back, we realize that we're getting old, and things have changed.....I think it's even more clear in the "young" online/adult industry.....crazy!

VikingMan 12-20-2014 04:30 PM

I lost almost a full inch off my penis and gained 40 pounds since I became a webmaster.

MediaGuy 12-20-2014 05:49 PM

Old means forgetting your actual age. I *think* I'm 46, but I've been 16 since I was 18...

:D

wehateporn 12-20-2014 06:04 PM

When my grandparents were in their mid-70's they would describe themselves as 'young' when discussing people in their 80's who they were going to help out, then they would often add at they end, "but we must seem old to you". They seemed to have to remind themselves that they were old, but they clearly didn't feel it

Fine with my age as I look/act younger and still get hit on by twenty year olds. Think the depression hits when you talk about something to a 20ish year old chick and she has no idea what the hell you are talking about. That's the moment you realize maybe I am old. :helpme

Right! Music is where it's the most obvious, for me. I can not listen to commercial radio and say, "Oh, that's the new single from _____." (Ke$ha, Iggy, Taylor, whoever) I can not tell the difference in their voices or their producers' sound. Completely indistinguishable.

And if I throw a reference to Annie Lennox, Pete Burns, Dave Gilmour, even David Bowie, or anyone else I find interesting for one reason or another, I get the retarded cocker Spaniel look. It's like we're from different countries.

They are called 'Millennials'. This video segment will pretty much sum up all you need to know and mirrors your feelings.
