Drudge says Elizabeth Smart ran away from home?
 

"You guys think I'm that Elizabeth Smart girl who ran away," Elizabeth Smart challenged police officer Bill O'Neal the moment she was found by authorities.

Smart's startling words have ignited a firestorm around Salt Lake City: Was the teen unknowingly conveying the unthinkable -- she deliberately ran away from home?!

While local and federal authorities work on the likely premise the girl was taken by force and later brainwashed, questions of a possible runaway scenario began to creep into the picture, sources said late Thursday.

One top federal source said the case remains "utterly baffling."

This whole stupid ass story reeked of bullshit from the moment I first heard of it. NOBODY gets kidnapped, stays right behind their own house for 2 months, walks in public with the kidnappers, etc and doesn't fucking run away. I doubt someone was watching her 24/7 and she could have easily darted while walking down the fucking street. She's 15 not 5. :2 cents:

This is what I've been thinking and nobody believed me. Like you said, this girl is a teenager, teenagers run away all the time and do crazy things.

I'm still amazed at the amount of coverage this got. Hundreds of non-blonde, non-attractive, non-white teenagers go missing every year without so much as a peep from the national media.

it depends on how the press wants to play it and what the principals wanna say.....

but i bet there'll be lots of juicy stuff coming out in the next little while.

Let's say this scenario (only because I have kids that age and know what idiots they can be)

If somebody would say to my kid

"I will have you little sister tortured and killed, I have your cat killed, I have your mom and pop killed, If you don't stay here"

What would my kid do?

Probably stay put..

But only because I have a kid in that age I can say that. They are young, they are volunarble and believe most everything they hear and see. If on top of it they threaten their live, or their pets, or little brothers or sisters.

What would you do? No imagine what a 14 year old would do.

You know that age aint very bright! I can guarantee you that .

Are you suggesting that the government took the biological evidence collected at the Smart house 9 months ago and cloned Elizabeth Smart? Are you also suggesting that they spent the last 9 months creating and training this clone to be an exact copy of Elizabeth, then released her back to her parents just in time to take media attention away from the unpopular war and failing economy?

All I gots to say is walk a mile in her shoes.

So far her sister says she was abducted forcefully, so does she...if you look at pics and videos of this girl before she was kidnapped you can see that she's a bit self conscious she even has a few facial tics.

She may have been 14 but she looked 12, and probably led a pretty sheltered life being that she comes from a wealthy mormon family...take a look at her pops the guy looks a bit flaky.

You never know what she was told during this whole time...hell she may not even have known her sister was in a safe place.

They could have told her they had her sister in another house and if she tried to leave she would be killed...etc.

Then consider what she might have gone through those entire 9 months. If the guy took her for only his sick sexual pleasure then imagine what probably took place every day for those 9 months...women being raped once in their life endure psychological trauma for the rest of their lives, imagine being 14 and enduring that daily for 9 months.

Take a look at Patty Hearst who was by all legal definition and standards an adult when she was kidnapped. But after months of abuse, physical and sexual and all kinds of mind games (like telling her daily that her parents didn't care for her and wouldn't pay her ransom) she soon started to feel some sort of connection with her captors and ended up robbing a bank right along with them.

Then look at the little boy...Steven Payner or Paymer I guess his name was who was held captive for 8 years...never attempted to run away until the guy who kidnapped him snatched a 5 year old and he didn't want that kid to endure what he had been through.

So once again...walk a mile in Elizabeth's shoes then come back and tell us all how it's fishy...how it baffles you ( imagine how confused as fuck as she might be)...how she might have ran away.

I am suggesting that exactly. Wonton will even back it up for me. Wonton, where are you when we need you?
