Thanks epassporte, "good" work

I've filled my car by gas today & tried to pay with EP Electron card. How surprised I was, when the girl from the gas station told me, that my card is not working. I told her, that it's not possible(because there are about $300 on my account), so she tried it few times more. I had no cash to pay gas in my pocket, so I left my car audio front panel there, got back home, back to station & paid by my credit card. I lost about an hour by this. Thanks EP, keep up great work.

Your card should work at any PIN based transaction terminal.

Can you do me a favor and email me the account name you use -- to [email protected] -- I'll be happy to find out what the issue is and let you know asap --

It sounds like he was trying to use it at a non-pin based machine. Basically the electron card (from what I have heard) won't work on Regular transactions, just pin based ones like ATM (ABM for some of ya) machines.

Epassporte has two distinct account numbers -- the virtual account number can only be used online -- and it's the only account number that can be used online --

Electron card (plastic card) transactions must be pin based transactions such as ATMs or POS terminals in convenience stores or groceries, etc where you are required to type in a PIN number in order to complete the transaction.

The plastic card number will not work for online transactions, you must use the virtual number assigned to your account in order to do online payments. And the merchant must truly be set up to do online transactions -- they cannot take the number online and then run it thru a non virtual terminal or setup --

I gave up after three attempts ordering online products with virtual card, once with gas ( out of curiosity )... ATM is fine with me.

I tried to use it at PIN based terminal(with electron logo, of course). The girl put the card into a reader & then told me: the card doesen't work, have you got money on it? After a positive answer she tried it few times more, but no success.
I won't be contacting you because of this, because I think, that you can do nothing with it(there was no transaction made, so you can't see that I tried to pay something).
But some info for you: Aral gas stations(and some OMV's too) here in Czech Republic aren't accepting your card for some reason.

BRISK 03-15-2003 04:31 AM

It might have something to do with the specific banking systems in the Czech Republic and how they work with point of sale systems there.

If you want to get cash out of your epassporte account, just go to an ATM and use the card to withdraw cash than buy your gas with the cash.

It's possible we can see the attempt, if one was made -- if you want to contact me with your account name and the date of the trans and the amount, I'll be happy to look into it for you --

If epassporte declined your transaction, they'll definetly have a record of that. If they don't have a record of it, then either the terminal at the gas station wasn't working or your card is demagnitized.

my paypal debitcard (mastercard) works just like a creditcard. no PIN required. and i can use it with PIN at any ATM to get cash too.

so epassporte doesnt do that?

Kimmykim 03-15-2003 09:43 AM

Nope Lane, epassporte's Electron card does not work like a credit card -- it functions as a debit card and must be used with a PIN based POS...

I realize your Paypal card works differently but then again Paypal is very different in one respect... they'll be happy to suspend your account and hold your money for no substantiated reason at any time... ;)

Any plans for giving out real credit cards instead of electron?

And how about the possibilty to fund your epassporte account with paypal.

BRISK 03-15-2003 09:54 AM

The cards only work online for credit transactions, so there is no use for having the card in hardcopy form.

We don't have any plans at the moment to become a credit transaction instead of debit ---

And Paypal will have to support CVC/CVV2 in order to use those Mastercards to fund with... tho ACH funding is in the works right now ---

BRISK -- there are two different scenarios -- one being the online virtual transactions and the other being PIN based transactions with the card present -- two differently coded transactions entirely --
