Google is going to fuck your non-mobile websites

You better make your shit mobile friendly.

Quote:

In the next few weeks, Google will start to label websites that render well on mobile devices and is considering giving that label weight as a search rank signal, the company said Tuesday.

Websites can earn a ?mobile-friendly? badge that is displayed with search results if the site avoids requiring software such as Adobe Systems? Flash, which isn?t officially supported in later versions of Android or by Apple?s iOS.

PornDiscounts-V 11-21-2014 02:11 AM

Time for one column blogs so ads can be shown.

pussyeater 11-21-2014 03:28 AM

that's racism against websites

Tekkno 11-21-2014 04:58 AM

And some sites and sponsors are still using FLV :( Hope this maybe motivates them to migrate to MP4!

nico-t 11-21-2014 05:11 AM

lol, google.

Google is like dogshit in a city with an ever growing number of dogs.
First you see shit on sidewalks every 100 yards.
A couple of years later there is dogshit (or 'google') every 5 yards.
Another couple of years later there is google on every inch of the sidewalks AND streets. You step into it all the time, it is annoying, gross, useless, unavoidable, it stinks real bad and is a fucking headache.

Here's a medium to small webmaster ancountering a big pile of google:

i like mobile friendly sites, because i use opera mini on lots of phones and tablets, so i dont like to see normal site open on my 4-7inch device

AllAboutCams 11-21-2014 05:44 AM

Fuck mobile friendly i hate that shit when i go to a site and see a watered down version fucking hell everybody has a smart phone that can see the cunting normal website anyway.

robwod 11-21-2014 05:45 AM

With the amount of people on mobile devices these days, and that number is growing daily, it really should be no surprise that Google (and likely others will follow) is going to make cross-device compatibility a bit higher in priority than previous.

Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long.

It's likely also, at least in part, that the proliferation of sales of mobile redirects are one of the (smaller) signals used in creation of this new directive.

TeenCat 11-21-2014 05:49 AM

wow, so google will now tell us how our websites have to look like, just to get into their fucking engine? WHEN THE FUCK WILL YOU IDIOTS OPEN YOUR EYES AND START PUSHING BING TO YOUR SURFERS??? :warning:warning:warning google have to fall down, and die slowly so everyone will see how fucked up shit their granny developers invented ...

ITraffic 11-21-2014 05:50 AM

every person aside from adult webmasters spends literally 24 hours on their phones scrolling swiping and texting. it is no surprise.

Fat Panda 11-21-2014 08:39 AM

mobile interwebs is future

ITraffic 11-21-2014 08:42 AM

it's not the future, it's the present.

anyways check your sites here https://www.google.com/webmasters/to...ly&url=gfy.com

seeric 11-21-2014 08:49 AM

Google's only mission and cornerstone to their business is to deliver their users a good experience. If sites don't evolve then they'll show sites thst do over them. Stop feeling entitled to traffic that isn't yours in the first place. If you want that traffic, then you need to earn it by creating the best possible user experience. They're loyalty is to their visitors. The rest of us are mostly charletans that for the most part do whatever we can to rank and acquire as many users we can for free from their networks. I fail to see the issue here.

Jel 11-21-2014 09:05 AM

I physically checked a site of mine on various androids, iphones, in FF, safari, chrome, default internet app, etc etc. google tells me my text is too small and links are too close. Are they fuck, but... what seeric said.

Thank fuck there's more than 1 way to acquire google traffic.

I am quite sure how google is doing that for last decade :1orglaugh
Which is why i found it hilarious when someone says "you need to make site for users, and traffic will come". Right.

michael.kickass 11-21-2014 10:29 AM

Better to get those mobile firendly batches fast.

Vendzilla 11-21-2014 10:43 AM

Been making sure everything is html5 complaint and mobile ready for a while now, kinda stupid to think everyone is viewing your website on the same device you are

NatalieK 11-21-2014 12:50 PM

How do you get your google badge? :winkwink:

http://arsewithclass.com/images/goog...ewithclass.jpg

femdomdestiny 11-21-2014 12:55 PM

So what is the measure of text size? I am getting: Text too small to read and Links too close together.

I just checked some of my sites, they all came up mobile friendly

aka123 11-21-2014 01:19 PM

Fuuck, I don't think that any of my sites are mobile friendly. I tried once to set that fucking viewport and it just brought fucked up results. As pondering what the fuck went wrong, I also read that from technical point of view that is not even that necessary. Well, that is not the only issue.

Without Mobile Optimization Your Website Is At Risk Of Losing Search Discovery [REPORT] - Search Engine Journal

https://frontify.com/blog/relative-f...web-designers/

Fonts should be relative to the device's display ...

There is a lot of legacy coding out there that is being obsoleted.

chloelewis 11-21-2014 02:19 PM

It's a good thing. The user experience of browsing web sites on mobile needs to be better and this will help.

It's also a good opportunity to be first and will get more traffic if you're ready!

sandman! 11-21-2014 02:36 PM

yea in the future everything will need to be mobile friendly.

Agree 100%!

I cannot stand the shitty mobile versions of sites, just give me the full website.

More often than not, the mobile version of a website eats huge amounts of shit in the way it delivers content.

Makes me laugh when I go to sites like Apple.com and they don't work properly on mobile.

myleene 11-21-2014 04:25 PM

You're telling me I'll get higher and 80% of my competition lower?

I'm all for it.

It'll be like taking some mushrooms to get in front of them.

Seth Manson 11-21-2014 09:40 PM

I would have to make changes to about 3500 webpages spread out across dozens of domains.

That one link had a mention about relative text sizes. That is something to look after.

sirkonstantine 11-22-2014 04:38 AM

We've been going back and revising everything for about 2 years now, just picking away at it. Even things like galleries we submitted 7 or 8 years ago to make them responsive. It's still amazing to me that stuff you submitted to TGPs that long ago still generate the occasional sale. And when you have 20,000+ of them, it's just a compound effect.

But yeah, we've been converting everything to a responsive format, dating back to 2005. I just arbitrarily selected that year as the cut-off point. I figure going back ten years is enough. I'm certainly not going to bother with stuff we did in the 90's.

there certainly is a boost, in both traffic & sales :thumbsup

What's the optimal page width to be considered mobile friendly?

it's not one width, our designer made lots of width with different images & menu status, needing to use css & html5, also something called bootstrap :thumbsup

Magnetron 11-22-2014 10:26 AM

Fuck all non mobile sites and let God sort them out.

femdomdestiny 11-22-2014 12:19 PM

Is there some Wordpress Plugin that will make relative text sizes? I can't find any

baddog 11-22-2014 12:21 PM

femdomdestiny 11-22-2014 12:42 PM

LOL.....thanks

THis one solved all problems immediately, so if you need it ,here it is: (free)
WordPress Mobile Plugin - Rocket Plugins

Only problem is that from some reason it is not showing FLV videos that should be streamed. Maybe it because I don't have flash player on tablet and mobile phone?

oppoten 11-22-2014 02:20 PM

Just use a responsive theme. There's plenty of them.

Diomed 11-22-2014 04:21 PM

If your not using a responsive design these days with all of the mobile devices and tablets, your already losing cash.

MediaGuy 11-22-2014 04:22 PM

People *join* on mobile, they rarely enjoy the content on those devices...

:D

nico-t 11-23-2014 06:19 AM

i ran a new responsive site and an older non-responsive site through the test, both had 'Awesome! Your site is mobile friendly.'

So it seems that they dont really see responsive as mandatory for being good for mobile - static pages are just as good.
