What cracks me up is that one of HBO's arguments against increasing Gandolfini's payday is that the Soprano's doesn't look "attractive" for reruns/syndication. What bullshit-- their DVD sales for the past 3 seasons' full episodes rocked. If this isn't a clear indication of the public's willingness to view reruns I don't know what is.

What a fucking asshole, HBO only DOUBLED his pay per episode, I'm sure that he can live comfortably off of that.

It's also rotten to know that HBO made the guy a big star, if it wasn't for HBO, he wouldn't be where he is today. I guess that once you get big like that, you stab people in the back.

Totally depends on the series and how hardcore the network is. "All in the Family" star Carol O'Connor thought he "was the show" and wanted more money--network axed him and the show went on [of course it died quickly thereafter].

I don't agree...HBO didn't make him a big star. He made HIMSELF a big star. He fucking made that show, not the other way around.

Great writing doesn't mean shit if you don't have the right people in place to make it come to life.

And in regards to HBO doubling his pay...sure he could live comfortably off of that. But I'm sure that the HBO execs can live comfortably on the MULTI millions of dollars that show had made them. The guy makes the show. That's just the way it is. Without him, there IS no Sopranos. Can HBO still make assloads of cash if they are paying him 1mill per episode?

That sucks! That was my fave show!! (although last season sucked) I agree with Magic, he made that show what it is. Damn he plays a good wacko ;)

NBC picked up more episodes of Kingpin. We'll be seeing more of them soon.

This Soprano's bs will be taken care of. He's just trying to get all he can. In some cases, a show might be able to live on minus the star...but I don't think that it would fly here.
