For every gazillion times shit like this happens there is one video.

It's coming...cameras on all police officers to record every interaction. There sure as fuck would be a lot of this crap going on if they knew they were being recorded.

Temporarily suspended while they investigate...why hasnt he been charged with assault? And what is there to investigate? He should be fired immediately.

At least he was suspended without pay pending investigation.

Around here, our local cops are always suspended with pay and given a nice, cushy desk job until everything blows over.

Clearly this assclown should be charged with assault and battery, uttering threats, etc. If I were the guy he'd slapped...I'd definitely be filing a civil lawsuit against the officer(s) and police dept.

I'm surprised the cop didn't go after the guy recording the vid - he must've done a good job keeping the cell cam nonchalant. But then he looks down at the cam and smiles...I can't see how the cop didn't know he was being recorded.

good that the guy who was slapped stayed so calm, others might have resisted or fought back and then it would have ended up with someone being dead again

I actually do not agree with the slapping. However, if the officer can see you have a gun in you car....what does he need a warrant for?

I'm not defending a cop with an obvious authority problem, an obvious superiority complex associated with his perceived authority, but ..... again, as a citizen aware of these assholes "protecting and serving" don't do anything stupid in the first place. Like riding around with a gun visible in the back seat. That's what the trunk is for.

Shame he didn't use a gun to waste those 2 useless pigs. If only HE had been armed when that pic assaulted him...it would have been self-defense.

While I totally agree with you - something tells me this cop would've acted and behaved in similiar fashion with or without a gun being visible in the backseat.

He's not the type to need much justification for his anger management/authority issues. The moment I heard him cut loose with the profanity...I knew where things were headed.

Unfortunately, I've worked alongside cops with similiar contemptible personalities in the past.

They've got his home address on 4chan (he can probably expect a few unwanted pizza deliveries) and are pushing for his partner to be held responsible as well for witnessing the assault and doing nothing.

Pretty standard. Nothing really shocking here, this happens every day across the U.S. ... These guys just got it on tape. If they didn't, they'd be facing made up charges.

They do sometimes. I remember hearing this story about one cop that had to turn a bunch of other corrupt cops in. They were basically stealing evidence and seized cash for their own use, murdering people to cover their tracks, etc. It was insane. I can't believe the guy had the balls to come forward.

Oh wait, that was just Training Day with Denzel Washington. Cops never turn on each other in real life.

SGT. needs to be demoted and beat. Simply towing the car would have given him the right to search the care for inventory reasons and that would have gotten him what he wanted.

It actually happens a lot more than you might realize. We just don't hear about it.

There was a case in my town a few years ago where one of the cops got by another cop lying on a report. They turned the report over to a senior officer who went to the chief. The cop that falsified the report was fired.

After nearly two years of legal battles the cop that was fired was brought back. The city was forced to rehire him. The reason was that the agreement the city had with the police union required certain steps to firing an office for an offense like this. These steps included an arbitration hearing. It ended up being ruled in arbitration that the cop was guilty, but firing was too harsh of a crime so the city was forced to hire him back and pay him the past two years of back pay.

When the date of his return was announced the country district attorney contracted the police chief and said he wouldn't accept any case that had this cop's name on it. As a group, every cop in the city went to the chief and told him they would refuse to work with this guy.

They ended up still bringing him back, but all he was allowed to do was answer phones and talk to people that walked into the department. If there was any actual official business he had to get another cop to take over. The chief then set out to figure out how he could revoke the cop's police certificate which would allow him to fire him, but before that could happen the guy "slipped and fell" and hurt his back and ended up getting a medical retirement.

The news said nothing about the fellow cops turning him in or refusing to work with him. All they mentioned was the city hiring a lying cop back and then later that the lying cop was getting a medical pension.

Police shall not break the law. if they do, they must be punished twice as others.

'Suspended without pay' seems easy but it's great at least that happened.

Heard the guy is coming forward to file a complaint but all the cop will be charged with is harassment. What a joke. What about the assault and violating his rights with an unlawful search?
