Been researching this and i think it means just embedding vids from tubes to your site. Is this correct?

Yes, that's pretty much correct. You show the video on your website but it is actually on their server so they are paying the hosting bill.

You can use Pseudostreaming (works with apache/nginx/lighttpd) to prevent hotlinking/leeching. This works for videos. For images you can use the referer trick in .htaccess (or even php): http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/smarter...with-htaccess/
