haha, yeah. I would not make a good employee. Having not been one for over 25 years, it would be tough to figure out.

It makes for a good highlight real to single out all the negative people around here though.

I have hired two people that I met through GFY. Both now work for me full-time.

Those of you that think there are no good workers surfing GFY aren't trying hard enough.

There's too many here that I have done work with, or would love to work with, let alone hire them full time. Three is simply impossible.

Off top of my head... mphalca, myjah, MarcyM25, Jscott, Denny, Avalanche, Dean Capture, Maqua, Zuzana Sarah, Loreen, Nancy Moore, Nancy Roberts, Devin/Rich, Relentless, 12clicks, yeah, I can go on. You all know who you are anyway :)

If we're talking hypothetical scenarios, three is just not enough. There's ample professional individuals on this board who, if they could somehow together, would likely create one hell of a product/service.

ETA.... misread the thread title.. these are the people I would WANT work with.

Most people here have a hard time putting a members board persona aside and looking at how they actually do business.

Personally, I find the entire idea of creating a "board persona" ridiculous. To that end, for me, GFY serves a purpose in that it serves to reveal one's professionalism, or lack thereof. This helps when determining whether I wish to do business with someone or not. Among other things, GFY certainly acts as a maturity/professionalism filter -- at least for me it does.

Interesting. I take it you have never thought a person you met was of a different demeanor in private as opposed to in public? You have never met someone that was totally different then they appeared to be on the phone or in other correspondence not conducted face to face?

Do you have children? Do you tell them to be on their best behavior when visiting others? Are you sure they act that same way when not in your presence?

Do you really believe that the majority of people here act the way they do on this site IRL?

This is the internet and this is an internet forum. Very few people act the way they do in person as they do online. If they did GFY would not have a fucking around section.

I don't come here for "fucking around". I come here for business. A couple of times being sidetracked or sucked into threads, but business is really all I basically come here for, and all I have been coming here for since 2001. That's it. Not to socialize. Thus, for me, I seek out those who carry themselves with a sense of professionalism and maturity to do business with. To be fair, I am like this on all boards. I'll bet if you combined them all, I probably have 2500 posts in nearly 20 years of this business. I'm just not someone who hangs out on boards socializing.

I have no doubt there have been people over the years with whom I have likely not done business because their "real approach" is different than their online persona would suggest. However, I am not here often. I don't post often. So, first impression basically is what I am left with. Like I said, for me, GFY serves as little more than a filter to business, not a social site.

Not saying that everyone's GFY personna is how they act IRL - but when I see longterm consistency in someone's personna...I tend to think that's either how they really are...or they should be nominated for an Oscar.

Personally, I'd have difficulty adopting some sort of personna radically different from my own IRL and staying consistent with it over the years.
