Damn, when I was in highschool an ounce of good "Colombian Gold" was $20 an ounce.

I live in Vegas. I have neighbors all around me with horses and you can ride around Vegas most any day and see people on horseback.

We must have gone to HS around the same time (Class of '81). $20 for "lid" of Colombian Gold - and that got you 20 nice-sized joints.

Funny thing is, I can still get an ounce of Colombian Punto Rojo for the same $20 - but I gotta go to Medellin to get it!

Weed is the cheapest and easiest shit in the world to grow. It literally grows like a "weed"
And living in central Florida...it seemed like everybody had a plant or two in the backyard back in those days.

Pot has become so mainstream that the demand is huge, compared to when you were in highschool. High demand = high prices.

For one, most people aren't even aware that you can actually grow your own. Second, people are naturally lazy, so they prefer to pay for a ready-to-use product, rather than going through the hassle of making it themselves, no matter how easy it may seem. Hell, I can buy tobacco and roll my own smokes for cheaps, or even grow my own tobacco at an insignificant cost, compared to buying cigarettes in the store. Yet I prefer to pay out the ass for smokes at the store 'cause I'm so lazy that I can't be assed to even roll my own, nevermind grow the tobacco. It's just human nature. Just like stupidity. I'd rather exploit it than let it bother me. :Graucho
