I Abandoned Internet Explorer

I started using Chrome for Some time.
I then used Firefox for longer.
I then switched to IE because certain things didn't work on Firefox.

Today I switched back to Firefox, IE is horrible. In short this is a list of the things I dislike about the browser.

Every startup it asks me to disable addons
It stops working frequently
Css Formatting of webpages vary from shit to utter turd.
Often forms don't load and links don't work.

Yes, FF has some issues but in comparison to IE they are tiny.

I can totally relate. I was using the toilet paper what was really rough on my sensitive asshole...so I switched...but found out that the scented on gave me a rash so I switched back.

bagfull 11-04-2014 05:42 PM

i use opera and firefox

Rochard 11-04-2014 06:23 PM

I've been using Chrome since it came out. No issues. I only have one or two extensions I use - I don't have a burning need for such nonsense.

Thing with IE is that it's still the most prevalent browser. I still use it to check site layout and design - especially CSS. IE doesn't use the old .dtd element and is SO strict on CSS (CSS 3 or 2) that you have to use it to verify shit. FF, Chrome, IE are the browsers to make sure everything works in.

Unless you're design only for mobile.

But IE is the biggest, fattest, shittiest, Jabba the Hut browser in existence, agreed...

:D

Real opera (v12) or chromium opera?

SilentKnight 11-04-2014 08:13 PM

Opera v12.17 screws up all the YouTube comments here.

(considering all the drivel and negativity...not a bad thing, actually)

fitzmulti 11-04-2014 08:21 PM

Other than checking website design...I abandoned it in 2001.

I recently decided to do a "Back to the defaults" trial and haven't been happier.

Any device or computer I have, if it has a default application such as browser, music player, whatever. I use it over any 3rd party.

DonJon69 11-05-2014 01:26 PM

I wouldn't use chrome. I was reading about all the tracking they do and all the info they report back to their servers.

I just thought that since they are upto version 11 and are backed by probably the worlds biggest company who should know a thing or two about browsers I thought it would actually work.
Guess I should have learned after Windows 8.

I guess you are missing some history there, IE have always been the shittiest browser out there, since ever, so the last thing one can assume is that they know something about making browsers.

I don't think IE is as big as it used to be, looking at my stats, mainstream and what not, it's pretty much equally split between IE, Chrome and Firefox, with the latter two just a hint before IE, so it seems to be the third biggest browser nowadays and not the biggest.

I'd love to know what sites had FF issues, yet worked perfectly in IE?

I've just switched to this, from Seamonkey (basically Firefox). Pleased to see that apart from a few minor niggles I've been able to import most of my settings, bookmarks, passwords, even open windows. Looks to be a lot more stable so far, and certainly more responsive.
