Any GFYers Seen a Ghost?

No bullshit. Honest question, have you ever seen a ghost?

I haven't but my uncle swears he drove through a lady holding a lamp near an old supposed haunted house near here and my Dad used to complain about wailing coming from his bedroom.

yuu.design 10-31-2014 03:30 PM

Nup, never, but know some people that have some experience with that

yes its actually spiritual energy. i think it takes tragedy to remain. :2 cents: murder drowning something that is un finished

NatalieK 10-31-2014 03:42 PM

We've a video, it's pretty cool, but most would think it was Gary tapping on the camera.
Honest & true, 100% on our families life, while asking if there's anything in the home, as we had tapping & knocking going on all night sometimes. He's speaking out, asking if there's anything in the home, saying it's ok to speak out through him etc, when the camera starts focusing on nothing, just in & out, then BANG, he felt the camera jolt but nothing there. The taps loud, the camera doesn't move, so you can see he's holding it still, but yet, he felt it move & you can really hear it.

Quite freaky stuff happened in our last apartment in Bournemouth :2 cents:

sarah_teamcmp 10-31-2014 03:48 PM

Seen? No. But a guy crashed his car into a tree in front of my parents house when I was younger and I swear I heard someone the week after that. Could have just been the shock of the event though.

EDIT: The guy died, it was a drunk driving thing.

pornmasta 10-31-2014 03:56 PM

i have seen the ghost of poo... so i flushed...

yea sure he did. Maybe your uncle should lay off the cheap ghost movies for a while. Or the ghosts were reenacting exactly how ghosts are portrayed in movies.

Seen one, no.

Heard one, possibly.

Our house has had an unbelievable list of unexplained occurrences in the 14 years we've owned it.

And no, I'm not a believer in ghosts. And there lies the paradox.

Spunky 10-31-2014 05:47 PM

Back in the day I used to smoke much pot,one night buddy and I were walking past a house and we both heard a voice telling us to come over..there wasn't anybody there

Lived with ghosts for over 10yrs before i moved, lot of people hated my place :( . Mostly the thing i still got in my mind was dem doors opening and closing by themselves and lights turning on randomly when i would shut them off to go sleep, hearing kids giggles and running in the hallway with seeing shadows of them holding hands. Only regrets i got was i didnt tape.

aka123 10-31-2014 07:34 PM

I have had hallucination or two, does that count?

SongRider 10-31-2014 07:41 PM

I got a Hug in a dream by an aunt that lived over a 1000 miles away from me and she told me goodbye and the next day I found out she had died that night...
&
Fucked with a Ouija Board one time... it foretold of a BAD EVENT heading for my Wife and I... within weeks it happened... Have NEVER went poking around the supernatural again!

TheSquealer 10-31-2014 07:47 PM

as if auditory, visual, olfactory and tactile hallucinations do not exist...... "I thought i saw or heard something... therefore, ghost". Brilliant stuff from the same people who will mock religion all day long!

I would have to have moved away - this sort of thing fascinates the shit out of me, but I don't think I could actually LIVE with it - visit, sure, but not live in it.. I'd never sleep. lol

Just a few examples of our shenanigans...

We get voices, both male and female - footsteps up and down the stairs and on the lower landing. Lights that go on and off constantly. Foreign currency (coins) from many countries that shows up randomly on numerous occasions throughout the house. One time we discovered $50 in sequential serial number bills (from 1994) in pristine condition, newly minted on the kitchen stove. A signed-by-the-author children's book that was donated (by mistake) to Goodwill along with a box of other books reappeared in the house. A watch went missing one night and turned up elsewhere in the house with the pin pulled to stop the watch at the moment it went missing. Furniture (some of it very heavy) moved constantly - stuff in my basement studio was constantly re-arranged overnight numerous times. Cupboard doors, drawers opened in the kitchen. Odd perfume smells for short durations in various rooms.

Let's see, what else...

Kitchen table was set for two one night - nobody had been home. The wife came home one evening to hear the upstairs TV blaring - it stopped and was turned off when she got upstairs. My Olympus camera caught an unexplainable frame one evening in the studio during a series of lighting test shots on tripod fired with 30ft remote cabling. Our youngest daughter's coat went missing for 3 days - turned up on the outside doorknob of her bedroom door. An old Zenith console TV stored in the basement was repeatedly plugged in and turned on, along with a brass light that sat near it on a speaker.

Lots of other stuff - we started keeping a textfile on everything a few years ago when we had trouble remembering all the goings-on.

Spunky 10-31-2014 08:27 PM

I would have probably moved that weekend damn

TrashyGirl 10-31-2014 09:19 PM

heard but not seen multiple times, footsteps going upstairs to the attic, never coming down and no footsteps in the attic after going up.

also I manage a rental property for my mom, a house in which my grandfather passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. the tenants have told me that a ghost is there, that a particular broom moves and that they hear tinkering noises at an old workbench in the garage. I assume it's my grandfather's ghost.

From the film The Devil's Backbone:

?What is a ghost? A tragedy condemned to repeat itself time and again? An instant of pain, perhaps. Something dead which still seems to be alive. An emotion suspended in time. Like a blurred photograph. Like an insect trapped in amber. ?

It's impossible to predict when and where something odd will happen. It's infrequent...sometimes it stops for many months...other times several things happen one after another. It'd be cost prohibitive to wire the entire house with infrared cams and run them 24/7.

We've done photos after-the-fact of some things - like hamper drawers pulled out in the studio...patterns of coins left on counters.

But the occurences are simply anecdotal at this point. Most of the time we're just amused and entertained by it - somewhat puzzled, of course.

We totally understand. Although the knocking & bangs on the walls & creaking of floor boards, from the last apartment we lived, were very loud, like someone was right behind you in the hall. Although not all the time, but did happen a lot, maybe twice a week maybe more. On the video we filmed, there isn't much apart from the focusing going weird, like it was zooming in on something & then the huge click, flick or tap on the camera, when Gary was trying to communicate with (it).
We think it could've been a person that lived there years before as it seemed a nice ghost, nothing nasty & never a scared feeling, only the knocks while having a drink with friends & things like this.

PR_Glen 11-01-2014 07:27 AM

Franck saw a ghost once... you guys should really ask him about it though..

Unless you're including some kind of schizo-break, drug trip, head trauma, or assorted other hallucination-inducing events, then no, no one GFY or anyone else has ever seen a ghost since there's no such thing.

Personally I don't believe ghosts to be a scientific reality. That said, if science (physicists) had not demonstrated theories to prove that a black hole can exist or that a singularity can create a whole universe then I wouldn't have believed that either.

These Ghost Hunter shows on TV and the batshit crazy people who follow that stuff are nutcases, however I wouldn't dismiss the possibility that you could possibly see an echo of the past and if you did see an echo of the past then the most immediately recognisable aspect of that would be the shape of a person.

Right now I disbelieve anyone who says they have seen a ghost, however I am happy to be convinced otherwise by science.

I saw something odd in the 90's, I was driving along a dual carriage way and there was a 2 ft raised concrete barrier separating the road and I saw a teenage girl in modern dress sat on it with her knees pushed up into her chest and her arms wrapped around them. At first I just thought wtf is she doing but after about 30 seconds I thought it was sooooo weird that she was sat their like that, I went along to the next roundabout and went back but of course she'd gone. You really have to see the layout of the road to appreciate how strange it looked.
I checked it out later and she'd been sat right on a manhole cover quite close to a spot where a 4 year old had died a few years earlier in a crash.

Do you believe in evolution ? Well, we must still be evolving in some way, maybe "some" people have evolved the ability to survive death in "some" form for "some" period of time.
We know for a fact there are other dimensions, this is "possibly" where they could exist.

Add in Everetts many worlds theory, the universe splits at every event, what if on your death it split again and there's a world where you're dead and the world where you survive in another dimension.

What a few years ago seemed fantastical now has some "potential" scientific basis.

This pretty much describes the way I look at it - although I'm caught in an atheistic paradox without any sort of explanations for many of the unusual things that have taken place here over the years.

Other than it's a very old house (128yrs) - there's nothing unusual about it. It's much like all the others on the street. Friends and family who know about the odd activity have mentioned it's a few hundred yards from the old city hospital/morgue (now a residential apartment complex). It's also in proximity to historic battlegrounds from the War of 1812 - but again, you'd have to believe in ghosts or spirits for that to have any bearing (which I don't).

We just laugh and scratch our heads everytime something odd happens...trying to make sense of it. We've talked of going to City Hall and researching the history of the place, but haven't gotten around to it (assuming any records even exist).

We've talked with a previous owner (who's great-great grandfather originally built the place) - it was a generational house - and he said to his knowledge it had no prior history of odd stuff happening.
