Top Five Special Interest Groups Lobbying To Keep Marijuana Illegal
http://www.republicreport.org/2012/m...illegal/?print
1.) Police Unions 2.) Private Prisons Corporations 3.) Alcohol and Beer Companies 4.) Pharmaceutical Corporations 5.) Prison Guard Unions Last year, over 850,000 people in America were arrested for marijuana-related crimes. Despite public opinion, the medical community, and human rights experts all moving in favor of relaxing marijuana prohibition laws, little has changed in terms of policy. There have been many great books and articles detailing the history of the drug war. Part of America?s fixation with keeping the leafy green plant illegal is rooted in cultural and political clashes from the past. Continued http://www.republicreport.org/2012/m...illegal/?print |
All of the above companies/unions have something to gain by keeping it the way it is.:2 cents:

Pigs suck!
Just this week there was a FEDERAL RAID on a medical marijuana dispensary a few blocks from where I live called The Farm on Santa Monica in West Hollywood. I watched as the dickless pigs had the employees sitting around in handcuffs as they walked around with M-16s drawn!

My state has a measure on the ballot to legalize it like Colorado and Washington. The polls show it is ahead, but you never know. Parts of this state are super liberal, but there are also parts that are very conservatives. I have a feeling it will pass so long as there is a decent voter turnout.

Sadly, most educated people KNOW that cannabis and hemp could eventually save some of the economy, offer well being to medical and psychiatric conditions, offer a safer alternative to alcohol (I am a mother of teenage girls, I would MUCH rather if my kids are going to experiment that they toke up instead of guzzle down), it is also a much GREENER manufacturing decision for MANY products because the male plant (hemp) has so many uses, and consumes a fraction of our natural resources to produce things like paper (save a tree!), rope, etc. Raw cannabis and the seeds are also one of the most nutritious plants on earth. It could assist in our hunger crisis...the list goes on and on...
Just because the government tells you something is wrong, does not mean that it is wrong. The above article does accurately describe the true hidden agenda's of the multi-billion dollar mega corps (that includes Capitol Hill). For them, it would be such a debilitating loss of cash. I wish someone would step up and do the right thing, but I worry that there is too much money involved. It is a monopoly of the super rich...and they plan to remain super rich. I hope the power of the people overturns all the greed, and the independent thinkers of the world prevail one day. Happy 420, everyone. Over and Out. |

Marijuana is illegal because people talk about making rope from hemp? |

No worries, OP, junkies outnumber all the 5, so eventually they will prevail.

Marijuana Junkies? Is this new terminology?

I don't smoke pot myself, but I don't see the harm in it. It's no different than booze.
If you look over the decades you see a number of things that seemed to be huge issues that eventually society finally said "Why are we fighting this?". Gay marriage is a good example - this was a huge issue but at this point it's legal nearly everywhere. Society is growing up and saying "This shouldn't be something we should be concerned about". Prostitution will be on that list too someday. |

Sorry...but one is a central nervous system sedative chemical and the other is a mind expanding chemical with many other medical benefits. Sure alcohol has medical benefits because it is a highly toxic poison and therefore good for killing germs to prevent illness (on the outside of the body at least). Inside it just destroys cells and if enough is consumed will lead to death. Of course, countless individuals also die in preventable automobile accidents when driving drunk. Have a drink on me! :thumbsup |

About a year ago, after pot became legal, he decided to use it as a gateway to stop drinking as the effects on his body of being an alcoholic were starting to be to much for him. He smoked pot every night for two weeks, then stopped. He hasn't had a drink since and still doesn't smoke pot. There's so much money to lose for so many special interest groups with pot being legal. Fuck them :thumbsup |
Did you post something that might actually be true?
|
It is not about that pot should be legal or not. It is about why anybody forbid anyone to do what he/she like to do? I'm grown up. I should smoke pot, watch porn, drink alcohol, puke and do it one more time if I want to. So why anybody forbid me to do that? Illuminati, Masonery, NWO, society engineering - if you read enough about that and think a little bit you will know why pot is illegal and why we are under old Roman (Latin) law. Alltime struggling with people is one of the methods.

If you read the history of how it became illegal, you will have even less confidence in the government, it was all political!
|
I have a special interest in keeping it legal.
