Not weird at all, somebody joined for a trial and then cancelled. Likely a $1 trial, sponsor takes the processing fee out (possibly 84 cents), then splits the remaining with affiliate.

On trial options the hope is that you get 35% or more to rebill to full price, and then they rebill for several months.

but with 50% affiliate, it would have at least been a 50cent pay out. Why only 8cents?

It can be because of a lot of different things - risky countries paying less, like disinfected said, the amount of the percentage - could have been a backup biler that doesn't pay out as much, there are so many different variables and reasons for this - it would be the very best thing to contact the program owner and if they are worth their salt, they will explain it and in a way where it makes sense so you don't have to guess it again.

ALWAYS ask the program reps/owners - they will usually have a better handle on it than to have so many people guessing or tell you how their program does things - because each does it different.

I don't mean to sound rude, but it really does hinge on each and everything being different from one person/program to the next. :winkwink:

Now, sponsor is nice enough to save cookies for a period of time after initial visit. The cookie system worked, you got credit, person signed up and immediately cancelled.

I would expect around 20% of new trials to immediately cancel and between 30% to 45% fail to rebill due to insufficient funds (prepaid card being a biggie) or a number of other processing reasons.

Really, have you actually been there? I lived there for about two years and 8 cents can't get you anything... It is cheaper than developed countries but not as cheap as people think. Tv and movies is not the best source of info on the subject

I've been there. For 8 cents I got a photo with this guy that was spray painted silver. Actually, the photo was free and I'm a cheap bastard so I put the 8 cents in his tip cup.

I don't think this is the case, phone billing works with premium lines, you will be charged a lot more, even if you hang up right away it will charge you for at least a minute and that minute won't be 8 cents even in mexico, 8 cents is ~ 1 peso (a coin, the smallest denomination there is, money there starts from 1 peso) if you call you neighbor there it will cost more. Also mobile phones are much more common there than land lines, when I was there everyone that I knew had a mobile but only hand full of my friends had land lines. Credit cards are also wide spread (a lot of latin america is quite good with credit cards, after all visa and mastercard experimented there with this tech before implementing in the western countries)
