Placing ads on a site
I've looked at the code of the first vertical banner ad on the main page of sex.com, and it looks something like this:
Code:
<iframe src="http://delivery.ipvertising.com/afr.php?zoneid=35&cb=87971" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="160" height="600"></iframe> Do you know / can you tell me how this works? Thank you. |
Is it possible to track number of clicks, are where they are coming from (number of clicks per referring domain would be the best; the more info the better) with something like this too?

If you are looking to put ads on your site you can use adamoads.com
I would be more than happy to explain if you have questions. |

Serve it faster... probably, but maybe there is more to this? |
Some big sites (I've just checked xHamster.com) link to Exoclick (as an example) directly too...
But in general, I've seen something like this over a hundred times (different domains on different xxx sites). It probably loads faster, or something like that... |

what am I missing here
Thats is just domain ( delivery.ipvertising.com ) for the ad server, I run my own on a different domain than my sites. |
You are overthinking it. Big networks use centralized ad servers -- either in house or third party -- to display impressions. It would be redundant and replication of effort to install an ad server on every domain.
