What do people use Linked IN for??????

I have like 500 contacts on here, and more add me daily....

Almost nobody follows up on an initial add.... I find it flabbergasting.

If I add someone to a social network I like to at least say hello.

Anyone using Linked In productively>???

Is it just a place to post resumes???

the whole point of linkedin is to contact the connections of people you know, not to contact the people you know...

Hi, LinkedIn is a way to connect with professionals. I tried using LinkedIn to source people. I guess yes, you use it to post your resumes or job experiences. :)

I am a professional - I am not using it as a job board. I havent had to look for a job in 15 years (save one little blip). Maybe its that we are in adult, very few mainstream will even talk to adult companies....

Hmmm

Step 4 join groups related to the business you are in..

You might want to switch careers to a legit industry and you'd find that it works really well.

I spent a few hours there looking at a group forum I joined related to retail banking -- what was there? A bunch of sotware salesmen and consultants ... Few people in the retail banking industry to contact. And Linkedin didn't waste the oppertunity to pitch me their premium subscription ... That was productive (<ROLLS EYES>)

So, I just got the monthly report from the FDIC and started a ''target list'' that seems more productive to me -- the old search and sort methods ...

No, I am not looking for a job, there was no shortage of head-hunter recruitment associates in the group, I am looking for an aggressive bank (Banker) ;) Good luck on that one :2 cents:

LinkedIn is positioned to eliminate the need for the "recruitment" industry, and "recruitment advertising" or marketing. Why do you need to pay a "middle man", when there is a proper system that enables people to connect directly to people, and, especially, relevant talent to relevant opportunities?

What we need is to remove the recruiters from LinkedIn, so it doesn't become clogged up like seek.com.au or the regular job search channels. The idea is that people can present themselves more visibly and transparently, in an international community network.

I'm pretty sure the site was developed exclusively so Derek Smout can spam you.

CourtneyR 10-22-2014 09:09 AM

I have had a number of new and successful leads come from LinkedIn.

A few affiliates of mine also like to message on there vs. email.
