Tablet experts - I value your thoughts... Does this sound any good, or utter crap?

OK guys. As I have never bothered with a tablet before, I wondered if this is worth buying? Its aproxx $199 (Translated from UK Pounds Sterling - £129)

But, being new to tablets, I really don't know what I should be looking for :(

Full specs below, but I've changed the name to XXXXX So as you can go on specs alone, and not on make etc....

I'm only really thinking of getting it to save using the computer. Mostly emails, web and a few basic apps... An 'Introduction' to the world of tablets if you like.

I don't expect miracles from it... Or would I be simply wasting money? :helpme

Thanks in advance for your opinions :thumbsup

If you have got XXXXX loyalty card points they are doubling them against one of these.

Any opinion though? Piece of shit or a good starter tablet?

pornguy 10-14-2014 07:59 AM

I have a 10 inch from Samsung. It has a built in phone along with the wireless. I use it mostly for email but its an amazing gadget to travel with when you want to use the maps. etc.

ottopottomouse 10-14-2014 07:59 AM

Only tablets I've ever used is a couple of iPads that have been stuffed under my nose to be shown something so can't answer that.

nico-t 10-14-2014 08:02 AM

im confused now. I take it that you think 'utter crap' is better than 'any good'?

seeandsee 10-14-2014 08:03 AM

It's good tablet, but dont know is it right price :)

baggg 10-14-2014 08:35 AM

Looks fine,i have a similar one and runs fifa2015 and asphalt8 perfect.Never had any problem with it,battery lasts up to 2weeks if you use it only for emails and light reading.

candyflip 10-14-2014 08:40 AM

The brand is important. Very few companies are updating Android as they should. Knowing if you're able to update your version of Android is a big plus.

Dunno if this link will work or not outside the UK, but here is the link:

LINK

If not, let me know and I'll do a screengrab...

8.3" screen - UGH, but if you can use it? You can use it. I couldn't.

Intel Quad Core processor sounds good

One user was - in the reviews bitching about the storage not being as advertised - I think he is dumb to not think that the operating system shouldn't take up any space - so take that 16GB OVERALL space into consideration, but mind you it will only expand to 48gb with an SD card. Another thing to take into consideration.

Also the camera quality is shit:2 cents:

It's great for the price for old people or kids.

If you've not had a tablet before, you really can't go wrong for the price, esp if you have the club card points or whatever they are called.

But people use them to webcam. FACT.

Go back into the bathroom and brush your teeth with a thick concoction of tea and sugar and beat off to the thought of DVTimes or Paul Markham while performing slight of hand magic into your reflection of yourself in the toilet bowl. :thumbsup

Microsoft office

For iPads & Android tablets there's an inexpensive app, "Documents to Go." You can view & edit Excel, Word and PowerPoint docs. Also view Adobe docs.
You can also sync them to your desktop or laptop

PornDiscounts-V 10-14-2014 01:09 PM

As a starter tablet this is actually perfect.

It has a very large resolution and a decent amount of power, memory and ability. You will love it. Don't let anybody tell you that the iPad is better because... Jobs!

I have a 7 inch Samsung Galaxy tablet for a couple of years now and its been great, I love for just browsing twitter and reading the news. It also fits my hands nicely for writing articles for my sites, its just now starting to flake on me little bit and thinking of buying 8.3 inch version. I'm gonna stay with Samsung since its served me well so far.
