Benetton clothing to carry tracking transmitters

Clothes sold at Benetton will soon contain microchip transmitters that allow the Italian retailer to track its garments from their point of manufacture to the moment they are sold in any of its shops.

Benetton's introduction of "smart tag" tracking technology will be the largest example of a trend now emerging in the retail industry..........

why the shit would anyone wanna buy their clothing then.

I always thought the colors of Benetton make you look like a clown but anyway. This seems to be mearly a theft prevention thing and they disable the chip on sale otherwise they would not sell a single piece in Europe due to very strict data security laws

Walmart is on board with this also.
