I have been in this business as a producer for 11 years. I have been on the high end big budget side of production for the majority of my time in adult. I have planned, executed and delivered manny large budgeted scenes. Whats large? (6k-12K per scene, multiple scenes monthly, 13+) I have also Been a niche ?spec? shooter for a large number of adult web sites with a wide range of budgets, from small to large.


I currently produce and shoot for Brazzers.com and a few other companies. I have shot about 500+ scenes for them in 4 years. I shoot my own stills and I shoot my own video. I was shooting about 13-17 scenes per month.ha


Brazzers has been lowering their content production across the board over the last 4 month with all of their directors. Mind Geek/Brazzers and all of the higher ups have always treated me very well. I have never been treated so well by any company/client as I have been by Mind Geek/Brazzers. Who ever and what ever else I choose to shoot, I still intend to shoot what ever amount of content that Mind Geek/Brazzers throws my way.


What I'm looking for now is to go back to the way I was doing business before I was exclusively contracted by Mind Geek. That for me is going back to being a ?Spec? shooter, working with 8+ clients and making their content the best it can be.


I just sent out a few emails to a few people and companies I want to shoot for. The funny thing is that I'm already being sub-contracted for one of the huge companies I really wanted to shoot for because my content quality is that good.


All of you that know me know I am very skilled with a stills camera, video camera and I'm really good at lighting what ever it is I'm pointing my camera at. I have a 6K square foot studio and a Production/lighting van.


When I started Brazzers, I thought I was pretty good. But now after 500+ scene for them and consistently getting put into competition with their top shooters, I am on a whole new level of good. Im very competitive and don't like being 2nd best to anyone. Thats what keeps my quality top notch.


I shot BigWetButs the way I thought it should be shot from the get go. Brazzers let me do what I personally liked and it got very good results and converted really well. I rewrote how I thought BigWettButts should be shot and now it has become the standard.
One thing i really noticed about Mind Geek/Brazzers; they always have high quality content because they would put all of their shooters in competition with each other. Scoring everyone on who can get the highest scene scores, which scenes got the most views and which scenes would get the highest conversions. Anything Butt/Ass, DP, Anal, Group were always my strong points.


Im not going to make a post about how great and good I am, because thats not me. If there is a word to describe me, it would be; COMPETENT:thumbsup

I think you're a bit more than competent, Dave. The content you shoot not only looks really great, but more importantly, the content you shoot sells. That's a really rare thing, and one new clients of yours will be lucky to have. :2 cents:

When Brazzers reaches the decision that content is now a shitty investment you know how low this industry has sunk.

Content only has value now when you don't have to pay for it, the 'user generated' and 'content partner' content is nice and cheap - cheap as in FREE. :Oh crap

Thank you for your interesting post, it is always interesting and revealing to see and hear behind the curtain at other studios. Mine looks like Sunday school choir girls on their way to Bible study compared to your work. I imagine regular guys just like me ogling my girls, dreaming they might meet them at the market or laundromat, get "lucky" and take them home for some fun. Your fans dream of a tag team wearing East bunny ears simultaneously fucking a girl in all her holes and who appears to have a whale-sized ass lathered in baby oil shot with a fish-eye lens. Ass is my favorite thing to shoot, but I actually have a lot of GG stuff, Doctor stuff, Office stuff, Milf stuff, etc.

The interesting thing is that I would regularly talk to sales and the marketing department. I would ask for click though rates and conversion rates for things I and others shot. I also would also ask for numbers in regards to what sex acts, people would click to and click back to. And yes they had those numbers. These numbers are so key when shooting. Knowing the niche, knowing your fan base, and knowing what people will click on all so important when you shoot.


I would ask for data that nobody else would ask for. When asked why? My response was simple; I shoot content for clicks, and conversions 1st and fans and members 2nd.:thumbsup


As a shooter I would pack in everything I could into a scene. HJ, FJ, ass play, oral, etc. It would be things that marketing could use to make useful tools for the web masters.


I can honestly say that working at Mindgeek/Brazzers was like going to college for a PHD in what shooting content is ultimately about... click, Sales and conversions. Man I can really write a lot of pages on this subject. I will just leave it at; I learned a lot and I'm very greatful for what I learned.

A lot of companies try to get the cheapest shooters and that never works out well for them. You need guys like Dave who are trained in the profession, know all the players, and can move fast on their feet when things go to shit (which they often do).

I am sure the freelancer stuff will be rolling in man.

Every major company (Penthouse/Vivid/Hustler etc) that is doing well always says "hey we are so and so now - we can start to save some money on production" It ALWAYS bites them in the ass and they go back to the good shooters. Happens ALL THE TIME. You have to play the long game with the bigger companies. It takes months and sometimes years of falling sales but they always figure it out eventually. Manwin is no different. :2 cents:

VIVID i read hasn't shot anything in a year. I think I read it here on GFY or MikeSouth.

Who are you shooting for now?

Vivid has not that is correct. We talked but they want X-Art scenes for $2500. I keep my cards close to the chest regarding clients but we are shooting close to 20 high end scenes this month :) Some of them for MindGeek.

I was sure to state to them that you were the absolute "MAN!" in this style of content.


I also explained to them that its at minimum a 2 camera shoot and just the expenses with no profit will be well over $3800.
