Any Namecheap Reps Here?

We received an email from your security department. We have responded 3 times to you. No response.

Has anyone had any experience with Namecheap's Security department?

Has anyone had Namecheap take some of your newly registered domains? They are threatening to do so with us.

AllAboutCams 09-15-2014 08:30 AM

Did you try live support?

Captain Kawaii 09-15-2014 08:54 AM

Does Namecheap Steal Domains?

Yes, Live Support says they are not authorized to assist. Only their security department can respond. We have replied to them 3 times with no response.
Pretty frustrating since they have locked our account.

freecartoonporn 09-15-2014 09:22 AM

whats the reason they gave you ?

Captain Kawaii 09-15-2014 09:39 AM

Hi All
Thanks for the responses.

They do not offer live phone support. I suppose they are in Russia???

We got this:
Namecheap.com Account Requires Verification
Hello,
Unfortunately, your Namecheap account was flagged by our fraud screening system as requiring verification and was locked.

And a request for a copy of our cc and a phone number they can call. I guess they only have outgoing phones. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I went to their knowledge base and apparently this happens a lot with them. Their final suggestion in knowledge base is to submit a ticket, which we did. Zero replies.

They say if we do not respond with 24 hours they will seize our domain purchases. We have responded 3 times, used on line chat, they FAIL/ on that and have not heard a single word out of them.

WTF????

RubyGoodnight 09-15-2014 09:42 AM

Their twitter account is usually good at getting things done. Maybe they can nudge whoever is dealing with your domains to actually reply?

jimmycastor 09-15-2014 09:49 AM

do you have whois protection on your domains ?

Harmon 09-15-2014 09:50 AM

What can I do for you?

Un-Hack them? :upsidedow

Captain Kawaii 09-15-2014 07:45 PM

After responding to their ticket, creating new ticket as their support suggests and 4 responses to them, I have ZERO response.

Great customer service. :thumbsup

freecartoonporn 09-15-2014 07:59 PM

follow the verification process.
problem solved.

Captain Kawaii 09-15-2014 08:51 PM

We have. That's the problem. No response. However, when I check their support page it seems they are having numerous "issues" at the moment. Good fucking grief.
I would not be so pissed off except they have threatened to cancel the domain purchases if we do not respond.

I guess I am spoiled by our hosts and other companies as for CS.:2 cents:

3xmedia 09-16-2014 12:44 AM

it seems NC slowly goes to shit, luckily I move my important domains elsewhere.

Captain Kawaii 09-16-2014 07:29 AM

They finally got back to us and straightened everything out. I wish they would be more responsive and not use such harsh language in the initial contact. They did not ask us to do anything that has not been asked of us before.

However, we recently picked up some new premium one-word domains in a very promising TLD and we did not want to lose them over an administrative matter.

ALL is well in Tokyo. Even after the scary-ass earthquake today/ :thumbsup

Get away from Namecheap as fast as you can... a single bullshit complaint from a random nobody will get your domain shut down at 1am on a Sunday morning (EST) without any warning from them until after the fact...

LOL. You are probably right. These are just a few domains at less than 13 bucks each.
I am already pushing NSilo to accept asap.

Domain name an TLD are huge keywords in this case.

Thats what scared me with the initial e-mail from them. Sounded like they were itching to seize the domain and re-sell... Thanks for advice. I am on that like white on rice.

Yes, it will. We had first hand experience of exactly that on one of our primary domains.

No reputable company does this, not even GoDaddy. Everyone who ever says they have "first hand experience" always did something wrong and just doesn't want to admit it, because they're never wrong. It's always someone else who fucked up.

Right, I remember that 60 day thing. I'm not too worried at the moment as NameCheap stepped up and got the customer service machine going. Thankfully.

We did absolutely nothing wrong, and our domain was restored after the fact.

They claim to have sent us an email giving us 24 hours to address the [false] complaint, but we never received said email. And no, it didn't go to spam, we even have a specific folder setup for all namecheap emails.... and we get every single reminder email they send (several per domain), and yet they [claim to have] only sent us a single email regarding the [false] complaint.

And on top of that, they [claim to have] sent the email giving us 24 hours to address the issue late on a friday evening, and our domain was suspended in the very early morning on a sunday.

So sure, if you want to suggest it was our fault they only [claim to have] sent the email once, and blame us for never receiving the [alleged] email, then by all means do so. Doesn't make a difference to me one way or another, my initial reply was to share our experience and recommendation to move away from them. Take it or leave it, doesn't bother me; and I'm not going to sit here and argue about it either as we know exactly the bullshit we had to deal with with them.
